Congratulations and good luck to 17 year old Calgarian and Whitecaps homegrown, Marco Carducci, who on Wednesday gets the start in goal against TFC in the Voyageur's Cup.
Also, it's not totally MLS related, but if anyone here has a chance to watch the Impact / FC Edmonton game on Wed night, check out Hanson Boakai of FC Edmonton. At 17 years old, he's arguably the best prospect in the nation right now, and is expected to transfer to Fortuna Dusseldorf of the 2 Bundesliga in the offseason to play with fellow national team midfielder Samuel Piette.
Here are some highlights of his work against Ottawa in the second leg of the prelim round, where he had a goal and two assists:

The road to CCL begins tonight! It sounds like TFC will be going with a fairly strong lineup. I'm glad to see Bendik get a game, hopefully he's not carrying too much rust. I really hope the Whitecaps go with a weak side, which looks probable, as TFC could use a dose of confidence. I hope Rey and Nakijima-Farran get the start and they throw responsible play to the wind and go fill the net.
Looks like TFC is going with a high powered starting XI.
No Gilberto, Henry or Osorio. But Defoe, DeRo, Bradley, Rey are all in. And yes, it is nice to see Bendik get the start. TFC will rely heavily on him while Cesar is gone for the WC.
I would expect Morgan and Henry would see action on the backline in place of Morrow and Orr. That being said, Morgan has been on the bench and injured all year, and Henry had a really bad game against NE.
I believe Osorio picked up a charleyhorse against NE, he was really struggling to get around the field in injury time.
Wow good for them. Fun experience for the players if they can squeak out a win in Montreal in game 2 and advance. Always fun to watch when the players have nothing to lose and the opponents underestimate them
Watching the V cup, there seems to actually be a lot of decent Canadian talent in the younger ranks. Really curious to see if the Nats will return to semi-respectability.
Montreal is prime to be knocked out after losing the first leg 2-1 and fielding a terrible team in front of an empty stadium (Habs game 7 is tomorrow night as well). What will Boakai do in this game? Tune in to find out...
In Vancouver, the Whitecaps will be fielding a young squad. Bradley is playing his last game before joining the US MNT for the world cup. Defoe will undoubtedly be pissed after not making the 23 man squad for England.

Thoughts on that PK called in extra time last night?? I don't think you can call that in extra time, especially when it's not even clear-cut.
For what it's worth though, I don't think FC Edmonton should have been awarded their PK either. Looked like a dive.

It looked like a foul to me, although it's one that often goes unpunished. There was contact on Hurtado and no play on the ball. TFC had already scored an offside goal anyway, so the 'Caps were kind of owed one there.

I think he was referring to the Montreal-Edmonton game. I thought the PK in extra time was one of the worst calls I've ever seen. I also thought Edmonton got away with one 5 minutes earlier when Watson hauled down the Impact player in the penalty area.
The Impact are an absolutely pathetic team this year and were extremely lucky to get to the final.
Hopefully this tournament showed folks that FC Edmonton has some quality young Canadians on the team.
TFC game against Columbus was excellent. Back and forth and a nice winner on a set piece by TFC in the dying moments of the game. Enjoyed watching that.
Looks like the Whitecaps have been training with the Canucks.
At least he got a yellow, as well.
Can't defend that. I'm not sure why guys do that in this age of HD, replays, multiple angles, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the league gives him a game for "simulation", and I believe that the MLS has done that retroactively before.
The Whitecaps are young, fast, and exciting this year. There's no need for the shenanigans.

The Timbers apparently have a $2m offer on the table for Joleon Lescott. Lord knows they need some defense, but with rumoured interest from QPR, I don't see him crossing the pond.
