I would say that Seabrook is the best defenceman on his team. And Couture being the best center on his team has nothing to do with my comment. Team Canada needs to introduce some new quality players each year and Couture is an outstanding young player. Apparently you love Rick Nash but he is way too hyped for what he produces. He had the second most ice time on the Canadian Team forwards and he finished tied for 7th in forward scoring. He doesn't provide anything to deserve what he is given.

Haha, you missed my point entirely. It was said to leave off Staal because he wasn't even the best D on his NHL team...which is obviously totally irrelevant.
I you're arguing Seabroom > Keith, that's fine, so does that mean Keith gets left home along with Staal???
I mentioned Couture because its perhaps not clear if he's better than Thornton...it was a joke illustrating how brutal the argument against Staal was.

...and I'm not quite sure where you got that I love Nash. I really don't care if he's on the team or not...I trust Yzerman and Co. will make the right decisions.

Sweet, Hnat Domechelli is No 2. I bet he'd have great chemistry with Iginla.

As best as I can piece together (they don't define all lines):
Nash-Crosby-Giroux
St.Louis-Staal-Stamkos
Tavares-Toews-Sharp
M Richards-Getzlaf-Perry
Bergeron,Benn
Keith-Seabrook
Weber-Doughty
Subban-Pietrangelo
Letang, Girardi,
Luongo
Price
Crawford
|
I bet Duchene and Couture make the team. I think Hall will make it too, but he'll likely be injured. How bad is Marc Staal's eye? If he's 100% he should be ahead of Girardi.
Subban had a bit of meltdown in game 3 vs Ottawa. I'm a little wary of him and Price being selected if the going gets tough.
Totally random lines, but I think the team will look something like this:
Kunitz-Crosby-Stamkos
Hall-Toews-Giroux
Tavares-Spezza-Kadri
Duchene-Bergeron-Couture
ThorntonEdit: Probably should have Eric Staal there.
Getzlaff
Benn/Turris
Keith-Weber
Petrangelo-Doughty
Subban-Seabrook
Schultz
Letang
Luongo
Crawford
Smith

Justin Schultz?!? Man that has disaster written all over it. There are many better offensive defenseman that should be considered before him, and he is awful in his own end. No chance does he make the team.

Well, only six Canadian defencemen had more points last season (his rookie year) so there cant be too many better offensive defencemen. Well see what he does this year, but I think he'll make it.

Kadri? He's only had one good season. I'd take Glencross over him
Kunitz? Bold, but not a overly crazy pick. I'd rather take Thonton/Getzlaf/Perry/E. Staal/Benn/Sharp though
Hall wouldn't surprise me but I'd rather have Eberle. Turris and Schultz don't belong anywhere near team Canada, not yet anyways. I've always thought Smith was overrated, but compared to Price it isn't a huge difference. Still better than Fleury
I do love the inclusion of Spezza though

I'm not sold on Seabrook making the team. He was outclassed last Olympics and will only be worse on the bigger ice. I'd take Bouwmeester instead, especially on the big ice.
If St. Louis makes the team (he should), how does he not play with Stamkos?
Count me in the Nash is overrated camp. He's good for highlight goals, but he's a one dimensional player and his forecheck will be ineffective on the big ice.

Ya no kidding, absolutely no room for him especially with his experience. All the following do what he does sufficient better; Weber, Doughty, Letang, Subban...

I would have to think that someone like Hamuis, Green or Giordano as further up the team Canada depth chart than Justin Schultz.
Listen the kid is good, and could be great. But he's not there yet. I feel the same way about Subban, Not quite sure I would include him but theres a tough drop off in talent. It seems like one of those outside candidates mentioned above may have a shot.
Couture - Crosby - Stamkos (Couture digs, Crosby dishes, Stamkos scores.)
E Stall - Toews - Giroux
Tavares - Bergeron - St. Louis
Benn - Getzlaf- Perry
Carter, Nash, Hall
Weber - Doughty
Seabrook - Keith
Petriangleo - Subban
Letang, Burns, Bouwmeester
Price
Ward
Smith
Not sure who ends up in net. Someone will be hot though I would think.

I like this lineup a lot... The 3rd line is the weak spot though, I don't see that group dominating...of course, chemistry is very hard to predict, but I wouldn't anticipate that to be a great line.
I'd replace St Louis with a bigger winger, a more physical player that also has good hands.
Haha, Nash comes to mind but lets leave him out of this... Mike Richards could work...or someone similar to Todd Bertuzzi in his prime.

I think St. Louis and Tavares are upgrades on versions of players that Bergeron has played with in Boston in Marchand and Lucic. St. Louis is a small shifty winger with skill and a nose for the net. Tavares, while not as physical and mean as Lucic, is a big body that likes to get into the corners and dig it out. And he's got a bit of a mean streak himself.
I also think the 4th line of Benn - Getzlaf - Perry more than makes up for any lack of size on the rest of the roster.
The subs (Carter, Nash, and Hall) are all big physical guys too, if they need to be slotted in.
