It happens all the time the other way so why can't the customers take advantage of a situation every once in awhile. Its not like I seek out only stores with self check outs, or that i HAVE to use self check out every time I go shopping. I will take advantage of a weak system. Judge me all you want, its your right. I'm ok with what I do, and I'll continuing doing it. I sleep fine at night and this will never bother me.

Thats quite a lot of crap you are spewing. So not only are you a thief you think you can impress us by bragging about it on here? hahaha.
You said you justify your stealing because of the "honor system". the catfood under the cart trick can be done at any store and NOT at the self check out. "sometimes the clerk scans it...." THIEF. Bet you can't sleep tonite.

You are pretty naive then. Pacem would own your house.

That would only happen if the item was tagged. Most items at a grocery store are not.
All items should have a SKU (regular barcode) that is scanned at the till which has all the inventory info. All that barcode does is input the number that the item is inventoried under. Thats why when the sku or barcode is missing, they'll call someone who will tell them a number they'll have to manually punch in.
The security tags (can be "hard" like the ones on clothes, or "soft" like the ones on video games) are usually scanned seperately on a different scanner when their purchased that disables them. Or they're removed.

Yellow and orange peppers are grown from different seeds AFAIK.

Gonna go out on a limb and say that petty theft confessions on a message board are not the type of thing that police departments care one iota about

Don't get the fascination with telling stories about people who in real life would give you the time of day.

Thanks, you are correct. Red bell peppers are ripened greens. Yellow/Orange are a different strain.
Quote:
The color can be green, red, yellow, orange and more rarely, white, rainbow (between stages of ripening) and purple, depending on the variety of pepper. Red, yellow, and orange peppers all come from different seeds and are different cultivars of pepper. Red peppers are simply ripened green peppers.[5] Green peppers are less sweet and slightly more bitter than yellow or orange peppers, with red bell peppers being the sweetest. The taste of ripe peppers can also vary with growing conditions and post-harvest storage treatment; the sweetest are fruit allowed to ripen fully on the plant in full sunshine, while fruit harvested green and after-ripened in storage are less sweet.

Now back to the petty thievery

I don't think anything posted here could be used against you, for such small crimes anyway. Otherwise there would be a ton of rappers and movie stars in jail for talking about smoking weed etc. on tv. Pretty sure they would have to catch you doing these things.

I can think of a lot of ways to save a few bucks, lying at an automatic checkout isn't one of them. Without even thinking about it as a crime the embarrassing consequences alone should keep people honest.

I wonder if a criminal record from shoplifting conviction would prevent a person from traveling into the US.
