Question for those of you who grew up or used to live in Temple, or the rest of the NE for that matter, and now live elsewhere in and around the city.
What was your reason for leaving that area? Not trying to be a dick or anything just curious on what the reasons might be.

Personally, I moved to a newer neighborhood not too far away. I loved the NE. But I love my new area even more.

Two things:
1. Elgin Estates is in McKenzie Towne, other end of the earth from Aspen and two of the three break-ins were there.
2. Anthony Ahtom, that guy needs to be a superhero, not a cop...

I'll answer, but I didn't move away.
I grew up in Whitehorn, from the time I was one, and now I live in Martindale with my wife and family. Frankly, we love the NE, and do not want to move to a different part of the city. I really can't think of any disadvantages about the NE area as a whole vs any other area of the city. I can of advantages of the NE area vs other areas of the city. Generally, it's easier to get to downtown and other important parts of the city, including most of the employment areas from the NE, than it is from other areas of the city. It's very multicultural (a huge plus), etc.

I lived in Pineridge and my local 7-11 was just in Temple.
I'd regularly cross 32nd ave and venture into the ghetto for a slurpee and a few games of Galaga or Ms. Pacman without incident.

My girlfriend (now wife) used live in NW Calgary, and her place was nicer than all the other places we could afford, so I moved. Still miss the NE at times, but I have to admit, I do enjoy the relative quietness of where we are now compared to Pineridge and Temple (where I used to live).

I remember Comic Quest. The guy started it out of his home and made comic deliveries for the first year or so. I remember his cool Spider Man jacket.
