Wow! I can't believe you go from a Franchise like Stl. to a team like Ana??? Totally understandable perhaps if you never won anything in Stl and/or Ana gave you a great chance to become a team in the post season every year...I'm not sure Ana even makes the post season next year...just wow.
This takes me back to my thoughts about Pujols being really angry about last offseason but I must say if Arod was a 10year 250 guy, shocked Stl. thought they would get Pujols for a dollar less. if they were offering 10/200. 5 mil/ year really not worth losing one of hte games elite?

I'd say Anaheim has increased their chances of winning the AL West to about 50/50 now with Pujols and Wilson... They got a pretty legit staff in Weaver, Wilson, Haren, Santana right now. If anything their outfield will be their biggest anchor.

40 man rosters. 30 teams. good percentage. Not rare at all.
I'm not saying it'll never happen again just rare, and there's outstanding HOFers that played in multiple cities for various reasons, lately mostly in part for money.
For the record I would count Ichiro, he's been true to Seattle. Cano, Utley and Mauer still too young to tell. I could see Cano being in pinstripes for the long haul though.
The top list you mentioned are all sure fire HOFers and just tremendous people/athletes, but if they didn't go to the post season almost every year (I know ATL not as much lately) would they have stayed? Tough to say.

I don't know if it's crazy money, I was actually expecting more.
That's Ryan Howard money and Pujols is much much better than Howard.

Pujols is better, but also 32 and now signed till he's 42. I hate these long contracts, they never work out. I wish there was a cap on them like 5-7 years. Pujols is now set to make $68,493 per day (every day) for the next 10 years. That is nuts.

Sources (Nightendale - baseball writer for USA Today) say Marlins deal was 10 year 275 million and he signed for 254. Can't be ALL about the money now.

Since 1994, STL has won one more World Series than ANA (thanks to an epic choke by the Rangers). Where would you rather live in the summer? So. Cal, or Missouri?

I'm surprised he switched leagues and went to a Division that only features one hitters ball park. I was hoping he'd stay in St.Louis, but it's tough to blame the Cardinals for not wanting to hand out a 10 year contract for that money to a guy his age.

^ Agree completely. I'm floored that teams, knowing full well his age, are willing to dish a 10 year deal out. It's not like he'll retire and leave that money on the table. When he's 42 he'll still be making $25M. This is the same team afterall who took on Vernon Wells' contract. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Rays lock up Matt Moore for 5 years. Looks like they will have good pitching for years to come.
Angels need Pujols more then anyone. They are trying to take over LA from the dodgers and this is the time with the turmoil in Dodger land. Angels just signed a huge TV deal so have lots of cash to burn. They needed to make a splash and get the people of LA supporting them and I think they may have done just that. Plus the large hispanic community in LA the hopefully will follow Pujols now.

Well it is going to be a lot of money when he is 38-42 it is also possible that some time during those late season Pujols could be chasing the all-time HR record (320 HR's in the 10 seasons). If that is the case having him in your lineup for that chase will be worth the money itself due to all the PR and attention your team will get from that.
STL screwed this up when they didn't get him signed last offseason and I think that rubbed Pujols the wrong way going into these negotiations.

I don't think Pujols wanted to sign last off-season. Mozeliak and DeWitt both have said that they tried to get something done but they weren't met with a ton of co-operation from Pujols and his group.
I really think that Pujols wanted to beat Arods record and that is the only way he would have re-signed with Cardinals if they gave him an Angels type offer.

Can't believe it's not mentioned, but Trevor Cahill dealt to the D-Backs for 3 prospects. I honestly don't know these prospects, but dealing Cahill at this early stage of his career with such success, is an odd move to make. Just like Moneyball, it looks like the A's are in a neverending rebuilding cycle. Tough because they tend to draft and develop players (especially pitchers) well. They deserve better.

So, if Braun is suspended and Fielder leaves, does Milwaukee win 70 games next year?

Maybe the Cards can win the division without Pujols and without adding anyone.
This division might be NL West bad next year.
No team is looking like a lock to have a winning record next year.

I think Cincinnati is fairly strong, they had an off-year last year.

I am probably biased because they are such a scumbag team but I think they had a lucky year two years ago and are not that good at all.
But I hate Phillips and find Votto and Bruce very overrated.
Plus they have Baker who can lose any game that he manages no matter how good a roster he has and how bad the team he is playing is.
