Are you guys talking about season, or Be A GM? Because I don't get any of this freezing during simulation on Be A GM. I have an Xbox.

Had my first freeze while playing Be a Pro mode. Just froze in the first intermission.
Also, just the way it's coded but they messed up on this one in the new be a pro in game tasks.
The task I got at the start of the game was:
- Keep the opposing team from opening the scoring in the first 10 minutes of the game.
I scored 5 minutes in, but then the opposing team scored while I was on the ice 9 minutes in. I got incomplete on the task. Technically I opened the scoring not the other team.

GM Mode game simulations seem to cause injuries far too often. Is there a slider somewhere where I can change this? I'm running on an all Heat defence for the Flames.

Yeah.. Kipper got injured and Karlsson was sucking so I brought in Irving. Took me from 13th to 8th and stole game 1 for me against powerhouse detroit. Irving is like 15-8 with a 2.02 GAA. He's crazy good in this game.

I started my franchise with the Flames the other day. I immediantly began looking for a No.1 center because I dont like Joker with Iggy and Tangs personally. So I managed to swap Matt Stajan, a first in 2013 and a second in 2014 for Jordan Staal.
Staal fought Stajan in the first game of the season against his old team, many laughs were had.
Edit: I also noticed that the picture of Langkow in game looks a lot like Kotalik but I'm not sure if that IS Kotalik, another player or just what langks looks like shaved. I went into the trading and put langks and kotalik beside each other and they look different enough to maybe be people that just look similar.

Iginla seems to put up more points when I put Jokinen on his line, around a 90 point pace. But when I put my 88 overall, playmaking created skater with him, he drops to around a 70 point pace. I really don't know what's going on.

Your center and other winger might be scoring the goals that would otherwise go to iggy.

consider yourself VERY lucky. the best player i have pulled from a pack so far is huggy bear. yes, thats right, an 80 rated tough guy is the best skater i have gotten so far...
i have went back to my strategy from last year of playing offline tournaments to grind for pucks. i have already managed to get a couple nhl players relatively cheap through the auction house and they sit in my collection as i use ahl'ers from the QC flames days as my team.

a couple things are bugging me:
1) strategies set in GM mode do not get used in the game.. it just uses the default
2) the gm mode doesnt auto save...
and i had a funny penalty where nsh had the guy infront of the net all alone and shot and scored. But when he shot he was called for goaltender interference despite not being near the goalie

Yup, I tried playing HUT online twice and got pounded (I'm not THAT bad). I'm sitting my 3 NHL'ers, playing Dmen on my 4th line and trying to build something resembling a team

I guess I am lucky with the draw, Though I'm playing tons of people with teams very comparable to mine.
After going 0-2-1 in my first three, I'm now 14-3-1. Not too shabby!

You got hosed. You could have got Crosby for that package and I'm not even bullsh*ting, that's how broken Be a GM is.

What I find messed up with Be A GM is how to make trades. Picks are over-rated IMO... way over-rated. How do your players increase in stats? I traded some of my older players for younger players but they don't seem to get better. Is there something I have to do? Also, where's the potential when you do trades? I have no idea how high a player is 'touted' in your organization. That causes my GM rep with a team to drop.

Players get better every off-season, they don't improve during the year. At least I don't think so. For me Duchene jumped to a 89 after 2 seasons of drafting him in 2011.

Does more play time make them better? Does benching have any effects? I have Schroeder on my team but just started my second season but he hasn't increased. Nor has any of my players... I have a solid two lines of Richards, Kopitar, Stamkos, Brown, Malkin and Gagne. So Schroeder, Clifford and my other young guys mainly play 3rd and fourth line. Not seeing an improvement I tried to give them some special team action but no one has increased.

i haven't played gm in 12 yet, but i did find in previous versions, it was better to keep top prospects on the top line in the ahl, playing in all situations than it was to play them in the bottom 6 in the nhl, from a developmental stand point.

I didn't play NHL11 because of how broken it is, but I caved in and picked up NHL12 this weekend.
So far I've played about a dozen games in BAP and think that:
- the SIM to next shift is an AWESOME feature and works fairly well.
- ice-time is a lot more appropriate for the situation. As a 3rd liner I get about 15 mins per game.
- the AI is much improved from NHL10. Positional play seems better and there just seems to be some 'Common Sense'.
- battling in front of the net is a bit tricky, but fun and worthwhile.
- legendary milestones and legendary players are an awesome and fun feature.
A couple of downsides:
- Game freezing sucks, although its not very prevalent (for me).
- The menus (PS3) are insanely slow. Heck, loading a saved BAP file takes ~45-90 seconds, weird.
- Garbage goals (can) happen.
Overall I am glad to have spent $60 on this years title. It is DEFINITELY better than NHL10 (for those who didn't grab NHL11), and I there's a ton of playability to the game. Hell, a GM-Dynasty alone could keep someone busy until rapture.
My (completely unscientific and probably pointless) ratings are:
Video: 10/10
Audio: 7/10
Controls: 8/10
Fun: 10/10

Sure you can, and even better is you aren't ever going to get a penalty for running your own goalie.
