Puts this in perspective. He's right. Reasonable people are not nearly as upset as they should be about what has happened here. It's disgusting. Should be looked upon as another low point in United States history. A nation where racism is alive and well and racists make up a huge portion of the population. Donald Trump should be looked upon as a lowlife racist, scumbag.
It's time we stopped putting up with this.

Of course the document he produced years ago demonstrates his citizenship, the Arizona law put in a whole bunch of other dumb requirements.
According to this there were two advancing:
Senate Bill 91 in Oklahoma has been approved in the Senate and is out of committee in the state House, leaving only a couple of votes before the representatives before it could be turned over to the governor.
Not complicated, it requires that all candidates – not just those for president – shall "provide proof of identity and eligibility to hold the office."
It provides that the secretary of state write up rules to specify the documentation that will be required and that such documents will be Specifically, for presidential candidates, it requires them to "provide proof of identity" as well as citizenship and also submit an original birth document.
In Arizona, a similar plan advanced out of the state Senate and faces only a single concurrence vote in the state House before it could go to Gov. Jan Brewer.
It requires similar documentation, but also includes a provision that identifying documents for a presidential candidate could be the same ones as those used to acquire a top security clearance in the federal government.
I remember watching an interview with the governer of Oklahoma and he said he would pass Bill 91. You know having a potentual president go through a federal security clearance isn't bad idea.
You know having a potentual president go through a federal security clearance isn't bad idea.
I'm pretty sure they go through a pretty good security check (probably even "federal") before they even get on the ballot, let alone in the Oval Office.
I don't know about the thing in Oklahoma, but the bill in Arizona has been vetoed by the governor.

So this guy tries to make it a "race issue"?
I for one was interested to see his birth certificate. It had nothing to do with the color of his skin.

Playing the race card here is just so predictible. People fall for it everytime because a TV talking head like Whoopi Goldberg says so.
Way too much Rachel Maddow reasoning here....criticize Obama = racism.
No doubt there is some racist morons out there...
...but I think the main reason people were interested in Obama's birth certificate came out of the fact that Obama came from relative obscurity to a national celebrity almost overnight. Of course people would be interested in the origins of their potential president. Obama has a very interesting, well traveled past.
I think this stemmed from genuine curiosity in Obama. With Obama's unpopularity however, more people have jumped on this bandwagon and would like to see him gone.
It's not the color of Obama's skin here, it is the fact that he is a bad president.
Its pretty obvious its more than just a birth certificate. Its about discrediting him any way possible, hes a Muslim, hes Kenyan, he cheated in college, and so on. If you don't think race plays apart in this, you're sadly mistaken. Theres a whole pile of ignorant trash in the US, that is so completely bent out of shape that a black guy is in charge, they just can't friggin believe it. Not only that, hes incredibly intelligent and articulate, they can't touch him, so they use underhanded nonsense to discredit him. This crap wouldn't be going on if he was a white guy born in Hawaii to an American mother and a European father.

Fortunately infinitely better than the one he took the office over from.
Oh yeah and Oklahoma. They seem to come out with dumb laws every other week.
I think there were a few other states considering such things (birther laws) as well.
It's not about genuine curiosity in Obama, if that were the case then the curiosity would be evenly spread across parties and such, and it hasn't been "I wonder", it's been "it's a deception on the country and Obama is not eligible to be President."
It's the Alex Jones listening lowest common denominator group that's driving things and the sane people are letting them.
Either your ignorant or racist - Which one is it? Because making someone prove they are American when:
1) They have shown legal proof (normal Hawaiian birth cert)
2) They have an American mother, so they are by definition a natural born American.
is racist.
Why aren't you asking for John McCain's birth certificate? Guy was born in Panama!
The question of John McCain's citizenship did come up long before Obama's. It was answered. He was born on a US military base in Panama. A US military base like an embassy is considered US soil.
