I was reported? when was this? did you report me to the cyber police?

Yeah, I'll probably come around to your side, but until then I'll still be driving like an ####### behind slow pokes in the left lane.

left lane is the speed limit lane
right lane is the speed limit and slower lane

you seem to believe

left lane is the speeding lane
right lane is for everyone else to GTFO of the way of the good drivers.
So we agree then? left lane might not be intended for speeding, but it is used for speeding can you at least admit to that? If so then I have no clue what you're arguing...the semantics of what the left lane is actually meant for?

and to be clear, i dont get out of your way and move to the right out of some brotherhood of understanding, i move out of the way and let you pass out of pure selfishness. if you are going to kill someone with your driving antics, i would rather it not be me, my wife or my family.

ideally, you would just slow down and drive safe out of respect for your fellow citizens, but since you wont, i gladly move out of the way and let you get as far away as possible.

dont mistake that for agreeing you are right.

yes, as$hats speed in many lanes, especially the left, out of some misguided notion they are "allowed" to because its the fast lane.

glad you have come around and realize you are in the wrong when you do it. can you please now stop referring to it as the fast lane since you now agree that it in fact, is not.

Now you're just being ridiculous...

I think maybe some of these comments are getting through to you and now you're having a pretty hard time justifying your practices....

Good.

Flash to pass is a standard behaviour in other countries. You flash to inform the other driver of your intentions, just like using a turn indicator.

If it's 'blinding' you then you should learn how to use your mirrors properly, or not drive at night.

I don't expect you to think I'm right because legally I'm not and I know I'm not.

But for the unwritten rules of the roads I am 100% right and you're 100% wrong.

Yes, the roads are infested with Left Lane Bandits and full fledged members of The Nanny State.

...but hey, they are doing for our own good because they know better than we do....as they drive 10 km under the limit in the passing lane with all season tires in the middle of winter without scraping their windows.

can you acknowledge that is not at all what I am suggesting?

no where did i say, i will drive in the left lane at the posted speed whether you like it or not.

i endorse moving out of the way of faster moving traffic, but again for completly different reasons. its not the unofficial rules of the road that i move over for, its for my own safety.

the left lane is for passing, the speed limit is not relevant bacause you should not be driving in the left lane.

That's what those signs mean when they say "Keep Right Except to Pass" or "Slower Traffic Keep Right"

so you are saying all cars should be in the right lane until they want to pass?

and since the only cars you need to pass, if everyone is going the speed limit in the right lane, are those cars going slower, when would you ever need to exceed the posted limit, even to pass?

sorry, you have it backwards. both lanes are for driving the speed limit, but if you need to go slow (use right) and if you need to pass those slower cars, because you are driving the posted limit in the right lane, then you should use the left lane (at the posted speed) to do so.

show me ONE citation where it is ok legally to go over the posted limit, in any lane for any reason?

If the sign says "keep right except to pass" than you shouldn't be in the left lane unless you're passing, and if it says "slower traffic keep right", then you can be in the left lane, but only until someone behind you is going faster, than you're supposed to move over.

Exactly what I said upthread...Everyone belongs in the right lane, unless they are overtaking someone.

Exactly. All of this arguing over what they are for is really non-sense. The manufacturer's official statement will be that they are simply to illuminate dark roads better. The on/off switch is not made to "flash drivers". As I said earlier, this is illegal in Ontario (where many of Canada's cars are made), so of course the manufacturer cannot say they made them for that purpose. What they are for vs. what people actually do with them are two completely different things.

Does anyone have a good reason to say that high-beam flashing is legal though? The law says you must dim your high beams within a certain range of another car. Why wouldn't this omit flashing them? In my experience, the law is absolute, so telling a judge "I just turned them on for a second" is IMO not a very convincing argument to get a ticket reduced. You still turned them on within range of another car.

Good for those other countries, that is not a good argument to support it. It's also illegal in several US states and Ontario. I'll try to teach my mirrors to stop reflecting light.
