I fully blame Gulutzan for not pulling Elliott after he gave up 2-3 bad goals in a row. It was clear as day he was not fit to play and his confidence was shot.
Why not even call a time out?!?

Elliott got you here, so you play him in game 4. The GM can deal with him in the offseason.
The guys can play balls to the walls with nothing to lose and make a series out of it, but unfortunately I still think the Ducks move on.

Silver lining is that if they had a contract extension drawn up to Elliott they can at the very least stew over it and consider putting it into the shredder. Too many peaks and valleys in his game for my liking.

Can't lay it all at Elliott's feet, as we mailed it in for most of the third, but a good goalie will step up and make some big saves at big times. The worst thing is that Elliott has shown that he can do that, just inconsistently.
I'm glad we don't have him signed long term.

The softie to end the 2nd is the difference in the game, botched 3rd goal or not.

One of the worst losses in Flames franchise history. Team has zero luck or composure.

Sorry, but despite making the playoffs this season has been a total exercise in misery and frustration. Can't bring myself to watch anymore.

Flames didnt deserve to win. Not the refs fault at all nor has it been this series. Ducks despite being outplayed in many facets still manage to win. That is the difference between a contender or a pretender. As much as I hate to say it, the sweep is coming. I voted the ducks in 5 on the poll but sadly it looks like we won't win even one.
Elliot is hilleresq in that every time a goal is scored he has a dejected loook at his own team or the refs.

There's no way that 3rd goal should count. Sorry, but if a player is 6 foot+ and his stick is around his head or over, that's not a goal.
But Elliott was not great. Bad breaks or not, that's not elite goaltending. I like the guy, but not sure how he comes back next year.
Too bad there wasn't a killer instinct from the team. You're up 4-1, make it 5-1, then 6-1. Destroy them. Oh well, on to next year. They're not terrible, but they're not good enough. Be interesting to see what happens this summer. New goalie, need a one or two more offensive threat. Treliving has his work cut out for him.

I cried when we lost to Chicago in '09. I don't think I've ever been dejected watching the Flames since then. Murphy's law. I just expect the worst possible outcome to occur everytime.

the market for veteran stop gap goaltenders is vast.
The future for this team probably has to be Gillies or Parsons though.

Otherwise there's not much to complain about. Tough break, but you move on to game 4. 2 and 3 were completely winnable, let's see them at least get a couple wins and break the curse in Anaheim!
Go Flames!
|
The Ducks first and last goals were directly result of terrible rebound control by Elliott.
The rest was ####ty luck or something. The team just caved in. Was gut wrenching to watch.
Oh well. Suck it up and win game 4.
