So the bridge was successfully inserted into the Downtown back door?

Here's a cool idea for the bridge.

It can be a toll gate ...

I think a lot of people really didn't realize the size of this bridge.

It is two meters longer (130m) than the arriVa condo tower is tall (128m). Or the same height as the Suncor East tower (130.2m).

The 6m width is going to be the big thing, that will be a size difference that anyone using the bridge will be very impressed with.

So this bridge has the length and the girth!

I can see it from my office window. I'm about 500 metres away and it looks good from here. Especially with everything being so brown it's nice to see the splash of colour.

With all the delays and the overcost, I'm glad it looks good or I'd be grumpy about it.

As a long time hater I must say it looks pretty good. Still think we got ripped off but that's water under the bridge now.

So you're saying it doesn't matter where we put it, or what we do with it, everyone will be satisfied....

As a big supporter of this bridge, or more importantly what it will do to my commute time, I'm not going to be impressed if I have to walk all the way to the LRT bridge to cross memorial anyway...

Bummer!

Did anyone fill out this survey? As a Sunnyside resident I appear to have missed mine...

Dumb, dumb, dumb. I was under the impression the plan was to always move the 7th street crossing to 8th. Unless the elevation change from road level up the bridge made this impractical.

Man, I can't believe that the majority voted against moving the cross walk to 8th st. - my neighbours are stupider than I thought!

Quote:
“I am strongly in favour of aligning the crosswalk with the Peace Bridge, I believe leaving the crossing at 7th Street would result in jaywalking at 8th Street…”
Well, at least this guy get it...

edit: With more reading I wonder how poorly written the survey was. It seems a lot of respondents felt there were already too many crossings and another would just add to memorial traffic problems. The question wasn't about adding a new crossing but rather relocated the existing crossing...

Really, at the end of the day it's no big deal I guess - I'm just going to jaywalk anyway...

Yeah, I filled out a survey, it was probably about a year and a half ago. I voted for moving the crossing to 8th and not restricting turns there.

Sucks that the north end of the bridge would have just been a block from the nearest place you could get a latte (Vendome), but we'll now need to walk three blocks to get there.
