Half the appeal of fast food was convenience. The other half was the price (compared to restaurants/grocery shopping).
Now it's flipped. You can put together a week's worth of lunches easily from the grocery store for cheap, just need to set a little time aside to prep them.
Now fast food is about if you want to bite the bullet and enjoy a bit of convenience in exchange for really overpriced food.
Now I think the appeal has shifted to sides. Wraps, soups, side sandwiches, etc. because they usually have have lowest caloric content and are the only things priced anywhere near what they're worth.
$13 for a burger (forget the combo) with tiny, thin patties that you'll wolf down in two minutes is a joke.
My hack: get a couple double buddy burgers from A&W if you need to indulge and don't have time. Two of them come to $7 and you get more than you would in one of their other burgers that individually come out to $10-15.

Fast food has never been cheaper than the grocery store.
Even 20 years ago it was $5 a day for fast food. You can still pack your own lunches for less than that.

Also, adults who ride their bikes through pedestrian crossings and expect cars to stop for them in the middle of the street. You're not a pedestrian.
... wait, I feel like we've bitched about this before.

Has anyone noticed blatant red light running(vehicles) has gotten a lot worse in the past year? Pretty much daily I see someone blast through a red, and I only cross about 14 controlled intersections a day.

Ive noticed a lot more people unable to stay in their lane lately. Meandering over the lane lines only to jerk back too far as an overcorrection. Whether its distracted driving or just bad drivers, I dont know, but it GMG

There should be some relief on this end (assuming restaurants follow suit), as atleast in the US, the price of chicken wings have halved compared to late 2021:
Quote:
USDA data of wholesale chicken wing prices in the Northeast US have halved from a whopping $3.30 per pound in late 2021 to $1.53 per pound this week.

For all you microclover folks, will it grow in places where grass seed won't?
I had 8 dying spruce trees taken out 3 years ago and getting grass to take has been very hit and miss, even with bringing in multiple loads of screened loam with the seed, so I have very patchy front and back lawns. I just want things to look nice.

What if the intersection connects 2 bike/multi-use paths? Would you rather wait for them to walk their bike across the street vs just riding and taking a fraction of the time for both of you?

I only just found out that all DQ's prices aren't set by Corporate. I had always assumed they were, but the different locations can change them as they see fit.

This requires a bit of pre-planning but...
Step 1) Buy an air fryer.
Step 2) Go to Costco and buy the 4kg box of frozen split wings.
Step 3) Cook and toss in whatever sauce or spices float your boat.
Step 4) Eat cheap wings.

I saw some tinted window Audi doing this yesterday in the left lane on Deerfoot, kept just veering over into the shoulder. If I had the opportunity, I would have pulled in front of him and mirrored his actions everytime he went off-road. That stuff annoys the hell out of me. Like I need more rock chips.

We got an air fryer a couple of months ago and use it pretty much every day. I can’t believe we went so many years without this wonderful appliance.

We have sure come quite a ways from that.
Not ten years ago on any given night you could find a 5, 10 or 25 cent wings night somewhere around the city. Those were the good times.

You know...I do wonder at times if WFH may have eroded people's driving skills since they use them so sparingly now.
And I dont mean that disparagingly. Its a perishable skill if you let it atrophy.
Now that a huge chunk of people dont drive nearly as much anymore it is entirely possible that their skills or reflexes just arent what they once were.
Add again to that WFH element, is maybe a degree of impatience?
