They don't have to wait for him. They have to wait for a good enough deal.

Yup just wait for a deal, like Sakic did with Duchene and Ottawa

Has to be legit. All makes sense and nothing outlandish. No reason to make any of that up at all.

Man I know it isn’t all on Sutter but it sounds like he really made for a terrible working environment for players and staff
What an embarrassing end to a storied career

I agree.
I have always been a big Sutter supporter, but it certainly seems like he really lost the plot and let his ego start running the show.
Frankly, I do feel that it is all on him. Head coach is the ultimate leadership role, so the buck stops there IMO.

The whole Sutter thing is wild to me. It all seems so out of character and makes so little sense.
I've said it before, but either Sutter is experiencing early onset dementia or his actions were those of a man trying to get fired.
Because otherwise the pieces as we know them just dont seem to fit.
How can Sutter coach the team to a great season, win the Jack Adams, everyone loves them and then fast-forward to this absolute s###-Show?
The piece of those tweets that I have a hard time believing is that Lindholm has been here all these years, everything by all appearances has been great and then this one crazy, crappy year absolutely demolishes all Goodwill.
This organization is a goddamned mess and they'd better figure it out.

I think the last two years were potentially hard with Darryl but winning makes a lot of otherwise negative things manageable

In all seriousness a tough pregnancy could be absolutely brutal on the whole family. I speak from experience going through one of the worst types with the bride. It was hard to keep working for a paycheque mentally and I was extremely lucky for the support I had from my company at the time. My work was definitely 3rd it 4th line centre Caliber and they kept me on the roster.
Having the money for a nanny or family in town doesn’t help of you are constantly worried about the baby and mom.

He threw shots at Johnny during the covid season as well.
During the end of the year presser he refused to say he wanted Johnny and Matthew back and said Brad said all that needs to be said. Just strange stuff but last season was unexpected really felt like after he got the extension he just went unhinged.

Stuff like this makes me think even more we are buying low on a center who is underrated. He still had a decent year despite the stuff going on in his personal life. If we get him less than $9 mil we won’t regret it

I like Lindholm a lot, but yeah, it doesnt change the fact that signing another guy his age to a contract like that is not wise.

One of Sutter's worst traits is his refusal to give praise. He withholds it as a motivational tactic.
He's just plain old-fashioned, and frankly, out of touch with current mores.

If it was just Sutter then why would Lindholm worry the same situation / environment could occur
Just saying …. It’s not just Sutter that was the issue

Baffling take.
All this chatter about roster construction and proper builds misses the key point. You need good players at key positions.
If the Flames don't sign Lindholm, someone else will, and we will watch him do his job for another team.
The story around here will then be how management let him get away, etc.
8-9m isn't first line C salary anymore. Personally, I would be happy to see him on a five year deal, but either way, I want him on the Flames, not haunting us as an opponent.

There is only one player signed to an elite-level contract, and that's Huberdeau.
The team can afford another, and as long as Lindholm is in the 8-9 range I don't see the problem.
