Maybe he's yet to be proven wrong about a prospect. He was also the GM from 2003 to 2010, which is very dark period in Flames drafting. Sutter's ability to access prospects is abysmal.

I have seen the bolded posted a few times, but I have never seen any evidenced of it. Has other than Tkachuk paying lip service to his new coach in Florida saying: "Best coach I have ever played for", has their ever been a hint that he even disliked Sutter? Considering how highly Sutter spoke of Tkachuk, and how Tkachuk had an amazing year under Sutter, it would surprise me, and I haven't seen anything other than fan speculation. Maybe I have just missed it.

I can’t speak to evidence but I would not be surprised if there are quite a few players who have played well under Sutter and/or have been praised by Sutter that eventually got tired of how he is as a coach. LA won 2 cups in 3 years under Sutter but they fired him a few years later with virtually the same players on the roster. Pretty sure the rumour in 2017 (when Sutter was fired) was that he had lost the room and there was lots of relief amongst the players after he was gone. It’s not that he’s a bad coach. It’s that he’s a very demanding coach that also sometimes plays some mind games with some players - I’m sure it’s with the intent of trying to get the best out of them but it can wear on guys. Even if he helped them to great success. All coaches have a shelf life but guys like Sutter and Torts can wear guys down even faster.

Justin Williams won 2 cups with him and hated him. They locked him out of the locker room a year after winning the cup.
Both Sutter and Tkachuk threw shade at each other through the media. Even his interview with Leslie he said he wouldn’t discuss Sutter.

Dustin Brown was a Sutter type player who hated Sutter.
I'd bet Sutter didn't like some of Tkachuk's antics.

I don't think Tkachuk ever liked Sutter and just didn't like talking about him at all. I watched just about every presser that season and he never gave Sutter any credit or even mentioned him by name when asked by media about Sutter's role in the team's turnaround that season. He seemed annoyed whenever he was asked about Sutter and he would always deflect by saying nothing really changed from the year before or something similar.
I also remember Tkachuk doing an interview and was asked if Sutter had called him after the trade. He didn't bite and said that he was going to keep that to himself. Definitely wasn't a lot of love there.
It could just be that they are two very different people and their personalities didn't mix, or maybe he never really got over how Sutter cut his ice-time when he started coaching the Flames again during the COVID year - I remember how pouty he seemed at garbage bag day that year.
I don't think it would have mattered who the coach was though, Tkachuk wanted out and was going to leave regardless of who the coach was.

So great. Especially as someone that loves Fenway park, it was simply an amazing movie.

I’m not the biggest baseball fan, but the Red Sox are my team, and I’ve always dreamed of watching a game at Fenway. Have you been there?

Here's a little Fenway Park story:
In 1986, just before the start of the the Stanley Cup Finals, my dad went to a Red Sox game with his brother who was living in Boston at the time. When it became known that my old man was from Calgary, the Red Sox fans fired a up a Go Flames Go chant and they had a couple sections joining in.
Sounded like a hell of a cool atmosphere.
I know, cool story, bro...

Nieuwendyk was a 2nd rounder.
Hull was a 4th as was Johnny.
Fleury was a 7th as is Wolf.
Draft lots and draft well.

I also think it's not a certainty that they won't get high picks. I can easily see this team slipping back into a high pick next year, even if Wolf plays at a high level.

So, that's one great forward player in the last 38 or so years, I'm not sure I can last that long.
When we've drafted top 6, we got Tkachuk, Bennett and Monahan.
I think getting high draft picks has been even the way to go for the Flames.

I was there many years ago with some buddies after spending a few days in New York doing a lot of drinking and sightseeing. We sat in the center field stands during a very hot day, and I had one of my worst hangovers I can remember. I was just sitting there thinking how I wish I felt a lot better so I could enjoy the experience more lol. But it is an incredible park, feels like the epicenter of baseball being there. Singing Sweet Caroline, hot dogs, beer.....pretty amazing place to watch a game.

been twice. it's awesome as is the area around Fenway. fun on a different day to watch a bit of the game through the outfield wall at the Bleacher Bar. Fenway tour completes the experience
highly recommend (if or when anyone feels up for their next US leisure trip)

Iggy was picked (by Dallas) in the range where Calgary often picks.

Who were our most successful picks from that run? Nystrom, Dion, and Backs?

Prust as well? Brodie. Bouma. Ferland.
Slim pickings though. The 05 & 06 drafts were disasters.

#66 TJ Brodie.
But overall Sutter was a terrible GM who had no idea about tema building, but part of that was likely the pressure from Edwards not caring about long term success.
Nystrom was a 2002 pick.
