I highly doubt McDavid leaves the Oilers just based on Draisaitl signing the contract he did. Don't think that happens unless he is sure 97 is staying.
However, even if CM gets to free agency, im guessing he will be looking to go South of the border where the media attention he doesn't like a lot, is lower than the cauldron of absurdity that is Toronto, Also, joining a team that actually has had some playoff success....which is the opposite in TO.

Sportsnet numbers were astronomical as well.
Quote:
[Sportsnet PR] Canada’s victory last night in the 4 Nations Face-Off final was the second most-watched hockey game ever on Sportsnet, averaging 5.7 million viewers, and reaching 10.7 million Canadians. Concurrent audience peaked at 7.3 million when McDavid scored the OT winner.
|
Most ever watched was game 7 between Oilers/Panthers.

The funniest comments were: "But Draisaitl won;'t be there!". As if people really care to watch Germany? I think the rebuilding Flames have a shot at beating team Germany anyway.
I was so excited for this tournament, and it exceeded my expectations. So much drama, skill, speed.. I watched the entire thing on the edge of my seat, and I am sure most of neighbours knew when Canada scored every time... and they also unfortunately knew when the opposing teams scored every time.
Screw all-star games. A mid-season international tourney would be awesome, but I am sure it won't be that regular.

Matthews equally as guilty on that play....he had the high guy and left him to chase in the corner. Bad decision that cost them huge.

I didn't care when it was announced last year but the Canada / US political drama of the last few months was the driving factor here, let's be honest. If we had a USA / Sweden final, nobody would have really cared.

Only if the nhl can get euro leagues and IIHF on board, which they currently aren’t, for the World Cup. Otherwise maybe another 4 nations until that gets figured out. Not enough guys from other countries to fill teams if the euro teams don’t release their players.
And who knows how long the olympics thing will last. Until one side gets stupid greedy again.

I'm also an immigrant and was at the very first game against the Nordiques.
I have my doubts you are an immigrant, and if so you might want to reconsider what it means to be Canadian if you are in any way shape or form defending that fascist pig in the states and his "alternative opinion".
You and I would be cleaning his gold toilet if he had it his way, because to him we are subhuman.
You are no "Flames brethren" of mine if you are so f***ing blind and stupid as to defend him in any way, or to stop others from expressing their opposition to the same Nazi's our parents fought and won against.
You might wanna consider being an Oilers fan.

Absolutely. The US will have to re-thinking taking Hanifin and Fox to Milan. They are not good enough skaters for a game this fast on ice that big.

Yeah the ratings aren’t that high without all that political tension let be honest. It wasn’t just about hockey.
My dad couldn’t care less when this started. All he said was I miss my Flames. Yesterday he was fuming that idiot keeps calling him governor we are going to #### them up.
