He's no longer a serviceable NHLer.

He wasn’t one in Calgary either. Guy stank almost but not quite from day 1 here.

Did they put him on LTIR? if so, it saved them cap space.

That's pretty convenient lol.
If you're a rainbows and puppy dog tails kind of guy and I called you negative then I owe you an apology.
If you tend to lean negative, then I didn't insult you in any way.
Both are a different conversation than what you just brought up.
But sorry to tire you out ... feel free to put me on ignore any time if my schtick is intolerable.

Trade deadline deals are another matter.
There is no off season during any of last eight years that a 1st + two 2nds does not return a high quality NHL ready piece.
Whether it’s an RFA, a mid-20s top-4 D - you should get something high value if you’re paying that freight.
I’m certain better players moved that summer for similar returns.

I think his entire contract could be buried either way

come on now he would have played if it was the NHL just not in the AHL
he laterally said we will use this as our out
I play in the beer leagues and my MRI found problems in my neck. Every single NHLer has something

Jordan Tootoo made $750k and then $700k in his last two seasons, he could have been sent down without any impact to the salary cap.
And in the end his shoulder had been bugging him, and the MRI likely would have shown issues, and he got surgery.
Teams smartly abuse LTIR by correctly timing when their guys have their surgery's (that's what they did with Kucherov and Stone)... but this isn't a situation where it's relevant at all since Tootoo could have been sent down with no cap impact.

Not really. He was only making league minimum, so a replacement player would have cost the same amount or more.

First of all, you’re singling out one person on that decision. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least to go back over the past handful of pages to find a comment from yourself that it was Chris Snow who stopped Treliving from acquiring Ristolanien……but Chris Snow had no involvement in acquiring Hamonic?….that makes sense. Keep bending it the way you want, I suppose.
Also, Hamonic was 26 at the time of the trade with term and under $4M/season. I bet Treliving and his hockey ops team fid their homework. By what measure did he not do his homework?
|
So it’s Chris Snow’s fault also?
When you keep bringing in guys that don't work, it's more likely that you failed to do homework and proper assessment. Treliving had several BIG failures, not just one.

Whoa.
To be very clear, what I’m saying is it’s not Treliving’s fault, nor is it Snow’s fault. It’s the fault of an organization.
It seems like you, and others to be fair, need to find a throat to choke. It’s not that simple. I suspect these sorts of transactions, more often than not, are consulted by several people. It seems like you are more than willing to exclude any nuance into account.
Every single GM in the league has ‘failures’ as you’ve put it.
Every. Single. One. Of. Them.
And if they haven’t it’s because they’ve been on the job for two months. In other words, just wait. This goes for Conroy too before you get into full snivel mode (if you haven’t already).

I mean I'll choke multiple throats for whoever was responsible for Brouwer.
And Neal.
And Hamonic.
And Kadri.

Yup. He's living up to his cap hit since November started.
Problem is he will taper off with time and we have another 5 years after this one.
Since he doesn't want to be around for a retool he should showcase himself for Colorado tonight and maybe we can trade him with some retention there.

Dube for duclair and a pick.
If no magic with duclair/Huberdeau - trade duclair at deadline.
