Samuel on verge of trade to Falcons.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/78...es-sources-say

I'm kind of torn on this one. I thought he was our best DB last year but I understand why they're doing it.

If the Vikes pass on Kalil we can go ahead and pencil them in for the number one pick next year. I might even say 0-16 is out there. Ponder is gonna get destroyed, and with AP coming back from injury do you really want to overburden him just because you can't protect the QB? I think the Vikes are just trying to get someone to come up to 3 and get a haul like the Rams did (which is of course impossible)

You can't trust a darn thing any franchise has said over the past month. I would think almost every team has had their board set for a couple weeks and other than due diligence everything that is happening right now is window dressing and misdirection.

My mantra until tomorrow is:

It's all a smoke screen.
It's all a smoke screen.
It's all a smoke screen.

It has to be right?

Its definetely all a smoke screen. Its draft season, where 90% of what comes out of GMs mouth is just crap to drive up value.

Considering how often the Eagles are taking other teams to the cleaners in a trade, I wouldn't be surprised if they know Samuel is going to be garbage going forward

So do we start a pool about which week the Madden curse strikes?

I'm so happy about the Asante Samuel trade!

I thought Dunta Robinson and Brent Grimes were going to take that next step last season, but they didn't. At the same time, they're still good CBs and this move now makes the Falcons fairly deep at the corner position.

...and for a 7th rounder, they've got nothing to lose.

The quality of play in the Pro Bowl has deteriorated to such an extent that the NFL might just scrap it.

The idea for getting rid of the Pro Bowl entirely has picked up steam in recent years, and Chris Mortensen reported on ESPN Radio this morning that there’s talk of suspending the Pro Bowl as soon as this year: There might not be a Pro Bowl at all at the end of this season.

It’s still possible that the NFL could try to revive the Pro Bowl by giving the players greater incentive to play and play hard, or by creating a gimmick like having a team of rookies play against a team of veterans, or turning away from having a full-fledged game and instead emphasizing skills competitions like other sports have in conjunction with their all-star games. But it’s clear that the Pro Bowl is, if not dead, at least on life support.

One of the surprising aspects of the Pro Bowl is that, for as bad a football game as it is, it still draws good television ratings and turns a profit. Given that, it may be tough to convince the owners — who will ultimately make this decision — that the game should be scrapped.

But last year’s Pro Bowl was a joke of a football game, and the NFL doesn’t want its product to look like a joke. Something has to change, or else the whole thing will be done.

Randy Moss arrived today in preparation for 49er OTAs.

Actually, all 49ers other than Gore (who always trains in Miami every off season) and Goldson (who has yet to sign his franchise tender) are present.

And it looks like it is a pretty crowded at RB. Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter and Anthony Dixon from last year, Brandon Jacobs free agent, Lamichael James (Drafted 61st overall), DaJuan Cofield (undrafted FA), Jewel Hampton (undrafted FA)

Moments like this are what makes us proud as fans of a team

Quote:
A statement released by the Buccaneers on Wednesday about the signing of an undrafted rookie began the same way most of them do.

There were stats and notes about the young man’s playing career, but Eric LeGrand isn’t your usual undrafted free agent so things took a different turn at the end of the first paragraph. While playing for Rutgers in 2010, the defensive tackle suffered a serious spinal cord injury in a game against Army and was paralyzed as a result.

LeGrand’s story is well known and he has made stunning progress since his injury. He began breathing on his own faster than expected, he’s been able to stand with assistance and he led the Scarlet Knights onto the field for a game last season. He’ll never play a down for the Buccaneers, of course, but Greg Schiano, who coached LeGrand at Rutgers, explained the reason for the move.

“Leading up to the draft, I couldn’t help but think that this should’ve been Eric’s draft class,” said Schiano in the statement from the team. “This small gesture is the least we could do to recognize his character, spirit, and perseverance. The way Eric lives his life epitomizes what we are looking for in Buccaneer Men.”

It might be a small gesture, but sometimes those are the ones that wind up meaning the most.

@mortreport: Villma 1 year suspension, Hargrove 8 games, Will Smith 5 and Fujita 3 games #Saints

I'm glad they signed all of those free agent linebackers!

Honestly, I'm just looking forward to getting the season started. I'm insulating myself from most Saints fans, they're not making themselves look good these days.

I'm a little surprised more Saints weren't suspended (apparently up to 27 were involved), but the severity of the suspensions is perfectly acceptable to me.
