Based on tweets, it sounds like the NFL didn't know anything about this.
And judging by the time frame, perhaps the damage and subsequent renovation of the Superdome during Hurricane Katrina brought this to an end; according to the report, this happened up to the '04 season and Katrina hit in Aug '05.
Maybe Mother nature was angry at the Saints cheating!!!! OMG, it all fits together.

Brian Dawkins has retired
What a great career, too bad we wont have him in the locker room and on the team anymore

Now holes are being poked in the report:
Quote:
Even if the conversations were being taped and later given to the coaching staff, there’s no way to take that information and turn it into anything that could be used in a future game.
That doesn’t mean the situation shouldn’t be fully investigated. But it would be ludicrous for Loomis to engage in a blatant violation of federal law if there was nothing to be gained by doing so.

Warrior.
Was a pleasure to watch him the last two seasons. He was still playing at a high level.
Should be in the HOF sooner than later.
What a great bunch of safeties I've had the pleasure of watching over the years.....Dennis Smith, Steve Atwater, John Lynch and Brian Dawkins.

Absolutely, but would someone as seemingly intelligent as Loomis do something with so much risk for so little reward? It just seems kind of tenuous.

I am in favour of moving out older players the majority of the time. but Dawkins was not one of these times. He was the leader on the Eagles defence, a hole which has yet to be filled.

I'm not sure where this idea that's there's little reward is coming from. Being able to listen to the observations of the opposing coaches is going to be incredibly helpful, it clues you in to what they're picking up from your sets, what they're looking to exploit etc. You can get a lot of that from film, but you're getting another level of insight through something like that.

Just saw that the packers have released 12 year LG Chad Clifton...simply one of the best to ever play the position and did so in front of a couple of the best to ever play...and he was a big reason.
Father time saves no one however and the staggering amount of injuries he sustained and played through likely sped all this up a bit as he apparently failed a physical.
Dont know if he still wants to play elsewhere or not, but I wish him luck in whatever he does. Class guy.

Jerome Simpson suspended 3 games for violating conduct policy.
In related news, Minnesota Vikings sign Simpson to a one year deal reported by Schefter.

2 Days out of the draft, and withthat comes all the crazy rumours of teams moving up. My favorite time of the year.
Chicago will be trading Matt Forte and round 1 pick [19] to the Browns for first round picks [4] and [22]
Hooray!

Can't really argue with the move. Simpson is a player that can stretch field outside of the numbers.

This draft is going to be one of the least predictable drafts that I've ever witnessed and I've been a pretty draft obsessed guy since 2002.
Outside of the top 5, every reliable mock draft has very different results. Should be a fun weekend for all NFL fans.

My son is not going to like that move....until Simpson makes an impact at least.
He will be praying to the football gods that Ryan Broyles winds up a Viking.

And i'm praying to the football gods that Spielman doesn't eff up that #3 pick. If he takes Blackmon or Claiborne, I will not be very happy....at all.

Looks like he's not gonna be predictible though
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Here we go: Vikes GM Rick Spielman said trade talk at No. 3 is "heating up....There is enough that there is a potential for a trade."
Walter Cherepinsky @walterfootball
#smh RT @LouPickney Heard @McShay13 say on ESPN that a source "thinks very strongly" that #Vikings will draft Morris Claiborne at #3.

So much posturing by Spielman, if he can create interest in the 3rd overall pick, then by all means take the trade. But if you drop any further than St. Louis, you are really losing out on a blue chip prospect.
If the team stays at 3 and the pick isn't Khalil, I will be one disappopinted Vikings fan. There is no need to reach at Blackmon since the WR class is so deep and if you are sticking with a Cover-2 scheme, you don't need to reach for a press coverage corner.
This is not to say that Claiborne won't be a very good DB in the NFL but if his skill set is tailored to be a man-to-man coverage corner then it makes no sense to draft him at 3 to play in a zone scheme.
Khalil may not be Joe Thomas or Jake Long but slotting him in at LT and moving Charlie Johnson in to LG (his natural position) fixes the biggest problem with the offense last year.
