Is it underwhelming, sure, but saying one of the worst in Flames history is comical

Gilmour
Hull
Iginla
Bouwmeester
Phaneuf
to name a few that were a lot worse
It’s an overreaction but he is no prospect

He is almost 27, coming off major surgery . He is a fill in scrub

Can't imagine how bad the Tampa or Florida offers were.
He seems like potentially a decent dman but the only problem there is he has only 1 year of team control left. So unless Conroy can lock him up for 3 or 4 years which seems unlikely, he's going to be a UFA very shortly too and it's not really in the flames interest to invest a ton of time and ice in his development. Hopefully there is a plan to lock him down for a while and he becomes an important sleeper piece in the deal.

Yes and maybe there is not a deal then. Who knows. What we do know is the condition he accepted is the condition that every team puts on picks like this when they are top 10 protected. The pick just slips then.

I feel like the Flames are really getting a 26 1st. McCrimmon would not have put that condition in there if he didn't fully intend on trading their 25 1st.

So ideally we need Vegas to trade their 25 1st by Friday, win a round in the playoffs, then fall flat on their faces the season after next?

If the supporting pieces are going to be those, that 1st needs to be condition-less.

Rental. He is nothing but a rental. Thanks to Brisson and his media hacks, no one had to offer much. At least the first round pick will be made before I die.

People weren't sold on Sharangovich. People weren't sold on Kuzmenko.

Give this Miromanov kid a chance.

He’s not a kid. He’s like 6 months younger than Hanifin.

Yes. But win no more rounds after the first, because other teams in the west that Calgary traded with have other conditions.

To me if Conroy is valuing anything for him more than he already is, he's wrong. He's 26 and hasn't broken out yet. You may like his skills but what's his ceiling? Anyway, back to the deal, I'm actually happy it's a future 1st rounder and not this years, but the conditions allowing Vegas to call the shots is just dumb. This is clearly teams playing hardball. I thought Conroy had incredible poise with the Rutherford deal, but maybe it was actually Rutherford treating him fairly. These other guys seem to want to bend him over.

Vancouver can piss off.

Agreed, seems like something he had to add in just to avoid issues getting Guentzel

Didn’t Sec say the other day that the flames checked in on Trevor Zegras?

It really feels like Conroy is loading up on picks to make a move for someone like that!
