Friedman, Lebrun, Johnston. All suggesting that Andersson will be in high demand. When is that coming if we haven't seen it already and how can we be so sure that there will be any more demand next spring?
I think thats why we're hearing extension talk again. And the Boeser comparison. Remember what the Vancouver GM had to say about trade offers there? I really wonder if thats happening here. Everyone overvaluing Ras.
I mean Vegas' offer was apparently (Friedman suggested this) a 1st and Nic Hague but Hague wouldn't come here. No one could or wants to match that?

First off, what do you think Nic Hague and yet another Vegas 1st is worth to the Flames? I do not think that is a very good trade, especially when you consider the fact that putting Andersson on the Knights roster is very likely to lower the value of the 2 first round picks we would be holding. (Also the acknowledging that teams almost never get to trade up with their late 1st round picks, so collecting them as future trade ammunition is not a good idea.)
I also do not think the Stars or Kings are really knocking anyone's socks off considering what they have in the cupboard and what everyone says is untouchable. Maybe the Kings offer was decent but from the rumours it doesn't sound like it was nearly as good as originally suggested.
I think the same number of teams are interested in Andersson and, if Conroy's price remains high, they are probably trying to see what they can do to avoid that cost.
For example, I believe that is why the Sharks have Klingberg.. but as the Sharks get into the season they are going to realize that they desperately need a top 4 RD and that Klingberg is not a substitute for Ekblad or Andersson. They are the kind of team that should try to move on Andersson right away to help build the season with him on the roster.
Other example, a team like the Stars are also probably thinking that they can limp to the trade deadline with their current top 4 D but unless someone like Lundkvist takes a surprising step forward, I expect they will remain interested in Andersson right up to the trade deadline. At which point, Nill needs to decide if he wants to meet Conroy's price to go after a cup with an upgraded D corp or go back into the playoffs with essentially the same group as last year (or weaker depending on how you view Ceci vs Lundkvist/Lyubushkin).
What I think will be interesting from the Flames perspective is that we've identified 2 needs for the Flames: #1C and a top 4 LD. But what if Kuznetsov manages to establish himself as a top 4 LD? That would basically mean the Flames are only looking for a high end C in the Andersson trade. It would also mean that avoiding the Hague trade is an even bigger win.
