I'm confused. This thread has been an endless stream of positivity since Friday

issue is that we now have people who want accountability for a vote and then publishes the names of the voters .... so no anonymity.

why put the choices up there if people must explain themselves? no point
lots of reasons people might pick the bottom two

Aren't familiar with Hamilton
Are familiar with Hamilton more than the uninformed masses - know something the others don't
Like the draft and believe that's the way to build
Had a pick they believed in at 15 more than Hamilton
....etc etc etc Too many reasons to mention

Sorry, we can argue about Sven Baertschi and Curtis Glencross some more if you'd like?

i voted to keep the picks, cause i think a player like Connor or Barzal would've been a great addition to our forward corps and this draft was incredibly deep, those 2 seconds were close to if not 1st round value. Hamilton is fine but we need a lot more work on this roster to be a contender, we need depth... depth wins.

Itse you are a good poster on this board. Any reason why you disliked the trade?

I believe it was a genuine question about why people wouldn't be happy about the trade. I for one have been talking to buddies for the past 2 days about this and have not heard one negative.

I am very curious to hear people's views on why this trade may look poor in some people's views - that's why I come to this board, to get insight and to read some people's opinions on the team that I love.

You can pick a bottom three option and still like the trade.

Depth over having an elite dman?

Hawks are proving you need a core then fill it out with whatever. The played the entire playoffs with pretty much 3 dman. Gio/Brodie/Dougie is our version of Keith/Seabrook/Hjalmarsson.

Obviously the D got exposed in the 2nd round, we needed more Elite players.

4 of the top 6 forwards spots are taken care off with plenty of depth and prospects coming in behind.

We need a stud physical winger now and I think we'll be contenders. Before this trade I didn't know how we would do next year, didn't even want to think about trading our 2016 1st as it could be a lottery pick/top 5 pick. After this trade I think we're a piece away from contending for the cup. Great trade.

I could see some people saying that making this trade is a shortcut which we shouldn't be taking in a rebuild that won't come together for another few years.

For me it's just about making the team better when you have that chance. When I first heard about the deal, I was thinking we'd need to give up one of our future core players such as Johnny or Bennett. That didn't happen, it just cost us a few draft picks which are overvalued at this time of year. One other thing is we are pretty stacked at young forwards so picking another (it was mentioned that picking a defencemen at that time would be a reach as it wouldn't be best player available) with our first didn't seem to be good management. So what Treliving did was basically trade a forward + for a defenceman.

Really championship teams have both depth and elite talent. You need both. But the former is easier to get - so when you have a chance to get the latter - you take it.

Connor and Barzel would have been awesome at 15 and I'll admit it stung a bit seeing them available knowing the Flames had a chance but it's a home run for the Flames. Both Barzel and Connor are fantastic prospects, they'd rate higher then a guy like Poirier but not on the level as Bennett or Monahan did IMO.

In terms of young forwards the Flames are already at a good spot. Monahan, Bennett, Gaudreau are all 1st line players now or will be in Bennett. Then you have Poirier who looks like a legit top line option as well.

The Flames addressed a glaring hole in their current and future roster by skipping out on the first round, and still managed to get who Swedish blueliners who have the potential to be players as well. From a Calgary stand point it's a win in every way I can think of. Yeah, I would have been thrilled to sit back and see Treliving use all 6 picks in the first three rounds, and I would have been smiling at 2-3 guys we got instead of just Rasmus and Kylington... but Hamilton trumps all that for this team.

If we're looking at franchise players the Flames have two in Monahan and Bennett and just got another one in Hamilton for the backend.

At best the Bruins hope they snagged a player in this draft that will be as good as Hamilton will be in four years, and then what? Trade him as well? That cycle must be frustrating.

Why call the minority voters out? Seems like an unnecessary witch hunt. If they waned to get into it with everyone while they're celebrating a very popular trade, they would have. They didn't as far as I can tell until someone felt it necessary to call them out for no good reason.

Sometimes just letting it ride is the best way to go. Feels like buzzkill.

I picked the most non-committimg answer I could find since my stance is basically that it is too early to judge. It wasn't like, " Eff this man, I would rather have the picks". It was more like, "I would have preferred to play the draft, but whatever. This is good too".

I did say that I was on board with the trade in a post.

I don't see it as calling anyone out, nor trying to start a fight. I like to read everyone's opinion from different points of view. The majority of posters here are thrilled with the trade, and obviously a few aren't. It's nice to get all points of view.

So how about we let them voice those thoughts when they feel good and ready to instead of calling them out which is exactly what it was.

I think its pretty fair to ask why people would vote in a dissenting fashion when all the talk in the thread has been amazement and positivity surrounding the trade. I do think it was a little excessive to post the names though. That just seems like tar and feathering at this point

I like the trade, but I'm going to save my excitement til we get some games in. The last time we got a high end $6 million plus d man, it didn't go as well as everyone hoped. That being said, Boston has a better track record with players then Florida did, so fingers crossed.
