So Hayes is now only a potential bottom 6 player and a **** for screwing over the Hawks?

Unless we get him, in what case he is a budding star and a man of integrity pursuing his dream.

This tells a lot, he would of got his insight from these guys to make his decision to leave.

I liked him as a good free asset, not much more than that. Won't be sad if he does not sign here.
Pretty sure most people felt the same way, he is no messiah.

This is it. He would be found money if he ended up here. I think there are some red flags with him. He may surprise some but I thought he was very underwhelming at the worlds. IMO he isn't a full time NHLer at this point.

LOL! How quickly people change their tune.

It would have been nice to add him just in case I am wrong but not a big deal if he lands elsewhere.

The Hawks were the only team that could have offered him more. They could have burnt off a year of his ELC by having him dress for the last game of the year and get him a $80k signing bonus a year earlier as the Flames did with Gaudreau.
The Hawks get the #54 pick in the next years draft. I don't see that they pursued him .
The Flames will be in the same situation with Jankowski if he has the huge breakout that some on this board are expecting.
Sign him after his last college game or get the #51 pick in the next draft.
Would you trade the Flames 2nd next year for Hayes?

That's silly. All Chicago did was walk up to a podium 4 years ago say his name out loud and in the process make his career options more limited... why should that engender some manner of loyalty out of him?

Except the Flames traded to get Knight's rights so the Panthers got something in return.

THen you have never paid attention to my past posts like in the B.C championship game where I said Hayes was garbage. I didn't change my tune at all, I guessed he would be a Panther or a Flame but I never said I thought he would be anything special. Don't make crap up just to try and look special.

Good point. I still think it is B.S. that a college player or in some cases a Euro can become a UFA by 21-22 years old. What a waste of a pick. So the Hawks are getting a 2nd as compensation, where was Hayes drafted?

He was draft 24th overall.
I personally think that Chicago are hedging their bets and thinking they could get a better player at 54 in this draft then what Hayes will be. He is four years into his development and I don't think (same with Chicago) he is ready.

Chicago offered him a contract. He didn't take it.

Craig Morgan @cmorganfoxaz 2m An NHL source says the #Coyotes had several conversations with Kevin Hayes, his agent & his family but he will not be signing with Arizona.

Those sources also tell me the 5 teams in mix for Kevin Hayes that talk to him today are: Colorado, Nashville, #Bruins, Pittsburgh, & NYR.
|
If he wants to play on a contender, why is Nashville in the conversation? He stiff armed Phoenix probably for this reason, what would he see in Nashville contention-wise that we don't see?

I still hope he signs here, but as I have said all along, if he doesn't - no big deal. It is pretty clear he had hugely inflated stats when paired with Johnny Hockey. I don't even think Kevin would try to pretend anything other than JH was driving that line, and he and Arnold were along for the ride.
From all reports, Arnold is a great stand up guy who I hope turns into a Yelle type player. JH is JH... he has proven his size is not an issue at every single level so far, I hope he can translate that to the pros. If he can, we have by far the best player off that line, and arguably the second best as well (Hayes and Arnold are not that far off in my opinion).
