I just can't find myself cheering for Bouwmeester. The guy had absolutely no emotion when playing here, had the personality of drywall, and was terrible in about 80% of the games he played here. Rarely made a positive difference so good riddance and I hope your playoff run is short lived.

Being shy and an introvert =/= no personality and no emotion. As an introvert and extremely shy person myself I can tell you that I spent years mastering how to hide my emotions from others, it doesn't mean I don't have emotions and does not mean I have no personality. It just means I don't put it on display for everyone else to see.

I agree with the emotion part, but about the personality part... Personality is all about how you interact with people and your outward emotion, no? So therefore, if your personality is not on display for people, then is it really personality?

I think that now that Bouwmeester has returned to a non hockey market where his down time is virtually annonymous that his play will improve and he will become the player we pected.
The guy was not built or a hockey market off ice. Way Too shy and uncomfortable in the spotlight.

Yes it is. Because your personality would come out around those you are comfortable with. It does not need to be on display for everyone.
Also personalities can change based on situations. Some will love the attention of a camera crew and eat it up, others hate having a camera shoved in their face. For all we know Bouwmeester is the most hilarious guy in the world when a camera isn't being rammed down his throat.

Getting paid almost 7 million a year, I would expect you pay that to someone who brings something to the locker room and overall vibe of the team...shy or not, you need to step up and earn that money and be a leader. He did not.

That's a good point, but maybe emotions is not the correct word but intensity. JBo, for whatever reason, doesn't raise his intensity to match others. During the season, JBo tends to be a very effective defender because he has really good fundamentals and he doesn't get rattled. He just looks so relaxed and smooth out there. That's good and all, but unfortunately he gets "pushed over" in key games because the opposition raises its intensity level and JBo gets overwhelmed.
Like you said, introverts tend to mask their emotions. And JBo ends up masking his. Instead of letting his emotions run a little and try to take over a game he just shies away like a wallflower.

Have you been in the locker room with Bouwmeester?
My guess is you have been in there as much as I have, which means like me you have absolutely no idea what he is like in the room. All we see is how he is on camera.

And on the ice. He shows no emotion on the ice which is all that matters to fans.
I don't care if he's shy, I'm not his girlfriend. Only thing I care about is his play on the ice which was average to terrible while a Flame. Also didn't help that he played with no fire or emotion. Addition by substraction and I couldn't be happier with him gone especially since he got a nice return.
No way will I cheer for Bouwmeester. I hated everything about him, and hope the Blues get swept and he's on the ice for every goal against.

Cundari looks like a keeper, Berro (jurys out there somewhere) and a probable good prospect has me thinking.
Depending on what the team does with the JBow cap space in a year where most teams will be struggling to find a way..this trade could possibly go down as one of the flames best.

Who cares what he's like in the locker room or with his close friends. The comment was made by a hockey fan, about that fans desire to cheer for him based on his persona to the public. And his persona to the public is one of no personality and is boring as ####. He might be the most fun ever with his family, but that's not relevant to us on here.

What he is like in the room is exactly what that person was talking about though. He made a claim that Bouwmeester bought nothing to the room. So obviously people care enough to outright make things up.

I am just glad that he was playing enough this year so we could actually get a return for him- and shed the contract to boot ! great deal all the way around.

Cundari was advertised as Giordano, but with a mean streak. This is exactly how he has played since arriving. His first goal was an absolute beauty & he plays like a cocaine-injected rabid pit bull out there. Instant fan-favourite. Whoever did the scouting on him deserves a raise.
Bouwmeester was so frustrating out there. This season was an improvement, but he still played too soft in the defensive zone & his offensive production wasn't good enough to justify the salary. He's playing we'll for the Blues, where he is arguably their 3rd best D.

Guys that bring value to the room while being as good at hockey as Bouw make the playoffs after they stop playing in leagues that mandate everyone gets in.
Glad he turned his career around enough to give us proper value for him. I don't need to wish him zero success as he's capable of that all on his own.

I guess with all the crap that was said and made-up about him I shouldn't be surprised with the comments made by some now that he is gone.
Other than wanting the Flames pick to be high I hope for nothing but the best for Bouwmeester. He was fine while here and it wasn't his fault that he joined the team at the time the lack of talent was really becoming apparent.

I agree with your thoughts on other than wanting a high pick for the Flames, I have no reason to cheer against him, seemed like an alright guy.
But J-Bow wasn't brought in or paid to be "fine". He was brought in and paid (one of the highest paid d-men in the league) to be elite. So yes, it partially was his fault that he came in when there was a lack of talent, because part of that lack of talent was an elite difference making D-man that he was supposed and paid to be.
Which is where these stupid J-Bow arguments break down. His defenders arguing that he wasn't a terrible player (true) and his accusers arguing that he wasn't the elite player he was paid to be (also true). People arguing two different things essentially.

And now we get to experience how easy Bouw-mallow is to play against from the other side. I hope the Calgary Heat destroy the Blues tonight.
