I am rooting for Bouw and the Blues know how good of Dman he is. Backes even stated so.

If I find myself hating someone irrationally (like a Boston Marathon bomber) it is a good time to look within and re-evaluate some things. Ask yourself, do you actually feel better hating that person? Probably not.
Then to hate a player on the team you are a fan of? thats just another level of absurdity. Do people think that if they take their fandom so seriously it makes them like a player themself preparing for a game. Are you a player in this theatre? Do you say how much you hate Darth Vader to your friends?
|
I said I hated everything about him not that I hate him as a person. I hate him as a player. Big difference.

The lack of talent was partially due to him. Well, not him specifically (not his fault) but if Sutter had done the smart thing and moved Phaneaf for a futures (Picks/Prospects) package after signing Bouwmeester he'd have had the cap space for a legit forward (Resigning Cammy most likely) and we wouldn't have had to roll out David Moss on the first line. I like David Moss and thought that he was an excellent 3rd line winger but being an excellent third line winger doesn't make him top line talent. With Phaneaf gone and a legit forward Sutter probably doesn't go insane and amass his collection of derelect former 20 goal scorers.
Just my opinion but the Flames desent from playoff team and division title contender begins with his arrival and the implications it brought to the rest of the roster. I think Bouwmeester was fine while he was here and it's not his fault that Sutter started misallocated the cap so badly upon his arrival.
Also: I like Mark Cundari. Liked him with that powerhouse Spitfire team back in the day.

In another hard hitting, engrossing interview with Bouwmeester.

St. Louis — One of the universe’s great unknowns will be soon revealed.
Can Jay Bouwmeester grow a playoff beard?
“I don’t really know,” the St. Louis Blues defenceman, chuckling, replied after Thursday’s morning skate. “With the amount I have to shave, it’s probably not (going to be) very good. You hope that you keep going and you have time to see how it turns out.”

Yes, please tell us more about how easy he is to play against.

My guess is you have been in there as much as I have, which means like me you have absolutely no idea what he is like in the room. All we see is how he is on camera.

LOL, when I say bring something to the locker room I'm not saying specifically behind closed doors when absolutely nobody is watching. I mean bring something positive to the overall atmosphere of the team. But you're right, I'm sure when Jay Bouwmeester actually got into the locker room every night he was over flowing with inspirational energy and leadership...how could I be so silly to assume otherwise??

Lol, Jaybo is totally that guy that you have conversations with but there are a ton of awkward silence inbetween.
You: Hey Jaybo, how's it going?
Jaybo: Good...
....
You: Ok then. So after all these years, you're finally in the playoffs for the first time! You must be psyched!
Jaybo: I guess so...

Actually I have a friend who was one of the equipment guys for the San Antonio Rampage. I guess Jay Bouw played for them during the lockout. He said Jay Bouw is a pretty funny guy especially when has been drinking which is apparently all the time. Maybe he is just awkward to reporters all the time because he is hungover or he is like the dude on Big Bang Theory.. (can only talk to girls when drinking)

He probably has a fear of public speaking. Having a camera shoved in your face and knowing millions are watching is unnerving for some. He could actually be a confident wise cracker in the locker room who knows.

So, with MacT looking to make a splash as new GM, and rumour of moving their 1st rounder to get a top forward/D/or goalie.... How choked would you be if St. Louis deals them Bouwmeester (+) for what is currently a top 5 pick??

My face is a bum!

I think Kipper and Bouwmeester named each other as the funniest guys on the team when they were asked. I love guys like that, totally silent all the time in social gatherings, but when they say something it's hilarious and you wonder where it came from and what they are sitting there and thinking all the time.

no chance that happens absolutely zero. If the Oil move a top 5 pick for a Dman they will want a guy in that 22-25 range not 30

I won't be choked at all, I'll be jazzed that a division rival managed their assets so poorly.

I recall the same thing. Someone on the team was saying that Bouw's actually quite the sleeper comedian. A lot of his awkwardness has always struck me as a string of stage fright when on camera.
