I could have set 2 or 3 PRs today, but a few times pedestrians thwarted me.
Still set one though! Made it into the top 20 for the year!

appears that we are really on the downslope of summer as it was definitely darker this morning when i got up at 5.50......but a really nice morning to ride in.....caught all my lights downtown as i turned off the pathway to go to bow valley square - what a difference that seems to make......bought some new louis garneau baggies for mtn biking and while the baggies are perfect the liners are like manties; however, i did try them out this am for commuting and i think i will use them exclusively for that purpose....in a perfect world, I think I'd just buy 4 or so pairs of the same pearl izumi shorts and have them all fit/feel the same.........booked myself a 3 day get away to fernie next week as my wife started a new job and she does not have holidays this summer, while i got the gift of an additional week - i was dissapointed to learn that the prices on both airb&b and vrbo are in $US. it will be nice to be able to head out for a ride and not worry about getting back by a certain time - too bad ridgemont there is still closed......successfully avoided a speed trap twice this weekend on 22x as i was coming back from bragg - a little suprised as both times i was doing about 108 in a 90 zone

Bought a Trek Verve+ 2. Did the ride from work to home on Friday - the hard part, as it's a 256 meter elevation gain.
The battery is a goddamned game changer. Should be able to make it home in able 40-50 minutes on a good day. We'll see about winter.

Had a fun ride home until the rain started.
My guess is that those living in the north likely fought a decent head wind

Yes, yes I did. Started sprinkling on me 1.5km from home, downpour 500m. If I had left 3 minutes earlier...

I had to stop for about 15 minutes under the train bridge at the start of the canal path. Good thing I did, right after there was a bolt of lightning so close there was no delay for the thunder. However Strava didn't auto-pause me, so it shows I did 5 km/h for those stretches. Otherwise may have been one of my fastest rides home.

i beleive that the bolt that hit that hosue in douglasdale may have happened while i was riding home as there was one loud burst. at one point i was wondering if the hairs on the back of my neck would stand up as i recently had my hair buzzed.
the pathway along douglas had many mature trees, so i was wondering if that is a good or bad thing.
it was one of the few times i wondered if i should have waited under a bridge.

That was a rather wet CP ride. We truncated it by 20ish kms for safety and miserable weather concerns so it ended up being a Turner Valley to Priddis and back ride. The beer at Fahr was great and the group was too.
We’re looking to do another in September. Possibly the 14th.

If it's on the 21st/22nd, I'm probably in.

I didn't want to start a new thread but does anyone know where a good bike rental place is in Nova Scotia and PEI?

There are several I have found near Halifax, and we just rented from a place called freewheeling adventures. They were good and we are renting from them again next month but they are probably around an hour from downtown Halifax. I haven’t rented from any places right in Halifax.
I’m actually in PEI right now, but we have bikes with us and haven’t looked into renting here.
Feel free to PM me for more detailed info.

Just came back from a few days in fernie. So much good riding there. I rode/pushed up hyperventilation as i was admiring the view (resting) a guy comes up riding a hard tail with a small gear cluster. I told him he was a beast - he says no my buddy is behind me riding a single speed(it was also a hard tail) I just about slid off the bench I was resting on and down the face of the ridge the bench was on.
I climbed 700m that day.
Lazy lizard was good as always and the salmon tacos at the lodge were delicious - but at that point a rhino’s a$$ would have been good eating.
Did not overly enjoy swine flu, mad cow or dem bones - but they were all better than a root canal

^ good on you staying on the pedals. I spent the last week in the st Jerome area with the intention to pedal some local favourites. Then I discovered mont st-sauveur had lift assisted riding hehe. Barely got any exercise all week.

You should have done the trail to ale. Hypervent, swine flu and p9. Ride them all in 24hrs and get a medal and free beer from Fernie brewing

5620 sounds like fun. Legit rollers or something that sends you when you’re going faster? Seems odd bringing a climbing bike to Revy. But I’m very interested.

Just got back from my first solo ride trip in 13 years. Did Alpine and a few other trails in Oakridge, Oregon. Friggin spectacular. Then drove to Mt St Helens, rode up Ape Canyon to the Plains of Abraham. What a ride. Amazing views of the mountain. Volunteered for a trail maintenance day in the area on Saturday and ate an amazing beef brisket and met about 50 new friends. Back at my desk today exhausted and happy.

to me you need a climbing rig in revy unless you are planning on doing helidrops at cartier all day.
Mt. MacPehrson, Frisby, Keystone Standard Basin all require some uphill work to get to.

Oh man, bossy had me excited at gondola. Guess I’ll definitely have to take the plunge when the sales start. The current geometry lets big travel bikes climb a ton better than my 7 year old porker of a DH rig.
