Assuming Buffalo needs to do something as they are moving in the wrong direction.

I am wondering about a block buster.

To Buffalo: Lindholm, Hanafin, Tanev

To Calgary: Cozens, Power

At first it seems like something Buffalo turns down, but both are only 0.5 pt/g players, with Cozens having a career year last year. On the hook for $7.1 for 6 more years.

It may be crazy, but a good block buster might be what they need

I really liked Soderstrom but he hasn't been able to crack a Coyotes lineup regularly. It says something I think.

This season should be his break in full time season after logging 30gp and 9 assists last year.

I don't mind if he's a piece coming back as he's a puck moving two way defender with a right shot, but I'd expect more than a couple of 2nds in return for Hanifin.

They won't move Power IMO. At all. Non starter.

Is it though? Neither has popped outside of Cozens last year. I was actually thinking we may be taking athe risk here.

A hang up with Utah is the no gambling or sports betting laws. With the way the league revenue is heading they're concerned with that.

wasn't last year Power's rookie season?

I don't think the Flames take any risk here. Buffalo wouldn't even consider it. I doubt they even consider all 3 for Cozens alone.

I really hope Conroy doesn't make a deal with Tre. Tre wins the vast majority of his trades and I don't want to see that happen here.

Why would we re-sign a 33 year old instead of trading him?

Not even .500 but won some games. Retool is off.
This is exactly what I was worried of..
I'm honestly shocked at how many fans see this retool decision as a binary on/off switch.

Teams have 50 contracts, 23 rosters players and 18 going every night. They can make decisions with each and every one of them.

If a team feels the value that Chris Tanev signs at makes more sense than the value of trading him, you do it.

It's illegal in California, Texas, Minnesota, and everywhere in Canada except Ontario.

Tre traded a 3rd round pick for 7 games+10 playoffs of Erik Gustafsson. Love to see what would be on the table for 50 games+playoffs of Chris Tanev.

I'd give both our picks from trading zadorov for this plus retaining. There's no way, we'd be getting the best player in this trade x2 plus they're younger, cheaper and cost controlled. But this would make amazing lol. Potential top Centre and top defenseman for years

I can see that. I just think that Buffalo is the team to try and go big with. What they are doing isn't working and changing the fringes likely won't help them.

Agree that I am being greedy, but this is a speculation board.

Buffalo may need to do something, but that's not the something.
They have a ton of prospect and draft capital they can utilize to address their needs. They don't need to ship out two young core pieces.
Part of what they need to do is address the goaltending.
And I think Hanifin could be a fit there, but they would offer up one of the many other forward prospects they have, before dipping into a guy like Cozens.

Sports betting is legal in all of Canada.

It won't be long before California, Florida, Texas, South Carolina and Minnesota move the way the rest of the states have gone, but Utah will be one of the last to turn for obvious reasons.

I'll have what this guy's having, waiter. But honestly, if this impossible trade happened, I'd write a letter to council to have Conroy's statue put up immediately.

I think they do need to address the core. May not be a simple as I suggested, but the idea of something game changing on both sides is intriguing

We just voted on it in 2022 and it failed 83-17. I doubt it.

I didn't know that about Canada, what's all the complaining about the gambling ads for then if it's legal? The articles I've seen say it's only allowed in Ontario.
