Nothing "wrong" but nothing great either, because of the year remaining he's gonna cost as much as Stone probably and Stone is a much better player IMO.

He is a proven 60 point player who plays on a trap team. He could break out on a good team like Calgary. I doubt he costs as much as Stone.

I also think that a change of scenery might boost Granlund's numbers. He was so overrated before he came to the NHL, and now has become so underrated it seems. Truth is somewhere in the middle. He is a deft playmaker, and when looking at the roster, the Flames could use a playmaker. Coming from the Wild, you know he is good defensively too, since that's all they seem to focus on. Would love him as long as the price wasn't too high. Would be a decent target for whatever team that is waiting for Stone fails to land him.

That's the order for me, anyway.

What is Granlund contract , just checked Capfriendly hes 26 makes 5.75 Million until 2020- 2021

Hypothetically, he would fit in great here-good wheels, pretty good all around, bit feisty, and can play RW. Decent playoff numbers too.

Is there absolutely no talk about the wild trading Staal? I mean he would be a great add for any team going into the playoffs. The #1 target for me is still Stone but after that it's a tie with Hayes and Staal because I think both could really work for this team. I just get the feeling that Janko is going to be traded so having one of those 2 guys would be great for either line 2 or 3. After that Simmonds would be an amazing add for one of the bottom 2 lines. On D I have no idea, Kronwall was the dream but he isn't going anywhere and I've never been a big fan of McQuiad for some reason but I guess he'd be an ok add.
Today is going to be fun! I took the day off of work and my buddy and I have about 3 days worth of junk food and appetizers. This is an annual thing we do and even on the years when nothing happens, it's still a day full of just hockey talk and relaxing (anxiously at times lol).

Staal has stated that he doesn't want to leave the Wild, and some GMs have apparently commented saying that they don't want to trade for a player if the player doesn't want to play for them.

Makes sense for Calgary...veteran LHD...for the Oilers, however, it would be yet another great trade from a Flames perspective...for the Leafs, they have shown the willingness to play LHD on the right side
