After re-reading, I think you are correct. The MF change fixes the issue I was refering to.

left/right click are magic missle/seeker and diamond skin/crystal shell
I just run around making monsters run into my hydras poison, I found a 945 damage staff when I took my DH farming so it helps a lot with this build...

well the game is pretty much broken for me now, in Inferno at least. my monk can survive a little better in act 2 with the mob damage nerf, but with the attack speed nerf my damage took a huge hit (monks are basically forced to go high AS for spirit regen). i managed to kill a couple of champion packs, thinking things might be good, but then ran into a vortex-molten-firechain group that pretty much instakilled me twice (they were right in the path i needed to go). exited and re-entered the game to reset them, then immediately got jumped by another champion group and an elite with minions. those 3 deaths cost me over 15k gold in repairs, more than what i had collected in that time. so i'm forced to quit playing my monk in inferno all-together for fear of going broke. tried my demon hunter alt, but the attack speed and nether tentacles nerfs hit her even harder and i can't even progress in act 3 Hell
i think that pretty much ends my time with D3. with the massive jump in repair costs and less gold dropping from objects, it's nearly impossible to save up for anything. seems like Blizzard is really trying to force people to use the RMAH, and i want no part of that

There's a lot of weirdness with the patch, but the changes to Cydaea are both infuriating and hilarious at the same time. The spiderlings can now melee you from like 15 yards away. It's honestly one of the longest melee ranges in the game. They also move much faster and spread out all over the place. It's become completely random whether you survive as a ranged player. If she spawns a patch anywhere near my DH a spiderling will instantly try to melee me. They still hit me for 20k (30k before patch). One of the worst tuning failures I've ever seen.

I only lost about 8k in dps, since I had been migrating over to +crit damage, so that i can live with. Have not fought anything hard to really judge, but the repair costs alone will break me.
For anyone who is already rich it shouldn't bother, but I died once and it was a 4k repair bill.
Back to my invulnerable armor for the time being I guess.
The one good point is the crafting. Cut the costs in half and I made a couple decent bows today. Might be able to recoup the costs on them at least. I really need to get the top tier pattern though before I make any more.

I haven't played the game in a couple weeks. I just don't have the desire to farm for gold in order to get better equipment so I can compete in Inferno. I don't know what's driving people to keep playing when there isn't any more story. A slightly improved variation of stats on a weapon doesn't seem worth the hours it takes to find/buy it.
Adding PvP might add another dynamic to the game but even that'll be tough with the Auction House.
I would love a game that looks like D3 with the expanse and variety of Ultima Online. That's a tall order but would but would keep people engaged much longer than D3 seems to be able to.
I know I'll come back for an expansion to see how they add to the story but that won't be for a while.

I don't understand this patch, as it seems the goal was to suck the last bits of fun out of the game. I am not in inferno yet. In fact, I usually just duo with my wife and we have 2 characters each in Hell. The patch has removed what feels like 90% of the loot while making repair bills extremely high. It actually cost me about 20k to play for an hour because we died 15 times.
What a mess.

I was just reading through the disaster that is the Blizzard forums and became intrigued at the debate raging in this thread: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5889158971
Basically, people that have recently purchased an item on the RMAH are now getting refunds from their credit cards because the IAS nerf has resulted in the item they purchased for real $$$ changing. They are claiming a bait and switch by Blizzard and it appears many banks are agreeing with them. My assumption is that the RMAH dies a sudden death in the short term, but the possible ramifications here are pretty big if you think about it. Has Blizzard opened itself up to a legal nightmare? Can they ban people from the game entirely even if they paid $60 for it?
Should be interested to watch.

Still in Act 1 in Hell and man even now the elites or groups are giving me problems. I hate molten!
Reason is my gear is out of date now of course, the vendors even are starting to sell armor that has a higher rating than what I've got on, but I can't buy it because the +80 vitality or +70 dex (or whatever stat I have on the existing piece) is missing.. so go check the AH, and sure enough I can double the armor rating of my stuff for 5000 gold and keep or improve the stats... weapons I can double the DPS rating.
Good thing I don't have any issues using the AH to gear up

Anyone else having trouble to find groups to play with? I usually play with the same group of people but when they are not online and I join a random game, it's usually just 1 char in the game.
Reading battle.net forums, the numbers are dropping fast.

Well, looks like I'm parking my Monk in Inferno (just beat Hell on the weekend).
But it's damn near impossible without having a ton of gold to buy better gear on the AH (I only have 700k). I laugh when Blizzard said they finished inferno with nothing with the gear that dropped. BS.
On that note, what the hell did this patch do to the drops? I didn't even get any rare items or gems and now the gold dropping has also diminished. Hell, quite a few kills aren't even dropping a single thing.
Dieing 5 times in 2 minutes then spending 10k to repair was a pleasure. This patch supposedly balanced the game? HA! At least the cost to combine gems finally makes sense.

Well they played the game for the last 10 years so it's not THAT far-fetched.

Gear dropped a lot in price in the last few days. Even before that I just looked for items that were better than mine. I put the stats I wanted and put a cap of 20k or so and had no issues getting upgrades good enough that Inferno Act 1 was no problem and I could even slowly progress in Act 2 before patch. All Resists is your friend.
I played with some friends last night in act 2 and no longer get 1 shotted by everything. Even picked up a 940dps bow by putting a bid on it for 1100.
The increased repair cost is way to much. It was low before but it's too much now. Same with some of the nerfs and changes. They seem to like to swing one extreme or the other.
I kind of enjoy the increased challenge in difficulty even though there is a lot of dying. Was getting bored of just mowing down everything.

Excuse my ignorance on this, but couldn't you take your damaged character back into a normal/nightmare/Hell game and repair there for cheap?

You'd lose your progress on that particular quest. It would also be really annoying.

To confirm/clarify on patch notes. Clouds in Whimyshire are no longer impacted by MF as well.
Did whimsyshire last night, with 257 MF (had 5 stacks of NV from doing Butcher run) and got zero magic items from clouds. It pretty much cut my magic item drop by half as I think I ended up with 4 packs, each of which dropped either 1 or 2 rares each. 2 of them also dropped a blue.
Lucky I only died 3 times, so my repairs were only 14k.
To Blizzard,
Thanks for increasing the high level item drops so 'good stuff' now drops very rarely in Hell Act 4 and Inferno Act 1, because that's all I can do without facing a repair bill that will wipe out any gains.
I understand people were farming vases and urns. I get it that it was making it too easy for some things to be obtained. I get it that you didn't want people doing 'cloud runs' in Whimsyshire with 250MF and getting top tier drops.
I appreciate the mobs that hit less, and kill me in 2 shots instead of 1. It means I actually have a chance to gain some drops, the idea of which tides me over quite nicely, until I get back to repair and realize that I am facing a 4200 gold repair bill, even without dying. The 4500 I got from selling all the useless items from the elites and champion packs managed to cover it. If I get lucky, the one level 60 item that was worth selling will fetch about 4-6k on the AH, so I will actually make a bit of a profit on the deal.
I might sound bitter, and I guess I am. I am bitter because my build, gear and financial situation make it financially unviable for me to advance. That isn't Blizzard's fault. I decided to switch to a glass cannon build when it was going to cost me an arm and a leg to stack vitality and resists to gain the 200k + effective HP it required survive more than one shot in Act 2. All that is my fault. I get it. I am not whining and screaming that Blizzard screwed me over. We all knew this was coming, but I guess I didn't realize exactly what it means.
I need to learn a new strategy to kill mobs. I need to figure out how to earn money without losing more of it to repairs. I need to figure out a way to get item drops that even give me a small chance of an upgrade.
Either that or I need to walk away, because I don't have time to do that all again.
Seeming like a good option right now.

My WD seems so sluggish and borring right now. The IAS nerf really slowed my shots down more than I expected. Also right before this patch I leveled a DH to level 50 and that made my WD seem even more sluggish I think. Not sure if I'm going to just finish leveling my DH and wait for patch 1.04 to balance the WD out a bit or just mess with specs.
Either way works since any gear drops upgrade the other toon, not a fan of the patch but its not going to stop me from playing.
