Eveyone knows the player wants to go there...Flames aren't the ones with leverage to be charging tax. Their offer beat out any rental offer, case closed.

This is very true. That pairing always had a rough go against the Oilers.

The bolded is a good point. When you have lots of picks to work with, it is easier to go for the high risk - high reward picks, there is less need to play it safe. And we have seen this from the Flames over the last couple years, going for guys like Potter, Mews and Whyttenbach.

You keep taking fliers on guys like that, you're going to hit one or two out of the park.

Yeah this obsession with Minten being some high end guy is something...my cat called, he wants his name back

I was more saying a C-level defense prospect is kind of lame, as was Miromanov in the Hanifin deal. What's the point there? It's a position of strength for us organizationally. If you're getting a longshot prospect, get one at a position that we're trying to address. It's a small nitpick but I want Vegas to stress as much as possible over what they have to give up.

Whitecloud is fine. Try him and if it isn't a fit then you can flip him too and hopefully pick up another pick.

I don't think anyone can be mad at Andersson for choosing to go to free agency. It is a big decision for the next 7 years and there are a lot of factors that go into it. But if I hear about Kadri deciding which 2 teams he is going to choose to go to, I am going to be rolling my eyes and thinking here we go again.
We routinely treat players with loyalty they don't show back.
Unfortunately it may just be the reality of a small market Canadian team though. Players hold the power.
The Flames need to look good to the broader player market to attract future talent, so they play the nice guy and sometimes get left screwed.

They're like the nice guys of the dating world; but I don't think they have what it takes to be the bad boy.

At the time he retired, Babe Ruth held the record for most home runs in MLB history… and also the most strikeouts. When you take risks, you're going to win more and lose more than if you played it safe, but it's the wins that get you where you need to go.

Otherwise you end up like the cheap Scotsman in the old joke. He bought two lottery tickets and one of them won, but he was utterly glum about it. ‘'Tis this other ticket,’ he said. ‘Why I ever bought it, I canna imagine!’

If Dallas sees him the same way we can probably get a decent pick back from them

Oh, great. And Edmonton has a pick in 2096 that hasn't been traded away yet!

I would love to deal him to Tampa. Feels like they always overpay for the guy they want

Well I certainly hope it was the best offer on the table, because I think we're a touch too accommodating with our players and giving them exactly what they want.

The problem I could foresee with these two consecutive moves where players got their landing spot is that it sets a precedent where current players that are moved in the coming months or year may think that because Craig has that 'considerate' reputation about him that they can hold out for the top available destination on their list, potentially to the demise of what the team gets in return, like with Hanifin.

The have 8 D on the roster with Whitecloud added. I know CC said that it won't impact playing time, but the math isn't mathing.

Maybe someone is hurt and is headed to LTIR, who knows.

It won't affect anything because they weren't playing many young players anyways. Besides Kuznetsov, not many of the young players are getting a chance to play in the NHL lineup.

Happy they finally gave Gridin a chance, hope he stays in.

Pretty standard with UFAs, not just with the Flames...the usual suspects often get the big name rentals because they know they can sign them.

Vegas, Colorado, Florida ect.
