if you are super patient, a 2026 1st might be preferred, and not top 10 protected. Vegas is old, and there window is wide open, but could close quick. More sugar coating spin

Is there a takesies-backsies condition on the pick too? Did Vegas negotiate a clause where they can decide to cover it in rat poison and light it on fire?

So sounds like to no protection if it becomes a 2026 pick... So you hope they pull a San Jose and go right in the tank in 2026 if it doesn't convey in 2025

So if it ends up being the 2026 pick there is zero protection on that one?

Conroy got worked.
Gave retention and allowed Vegas to set two conditions that not only lottery protects it but lets them trade trade the pick and push it back even further.
I had my issues with Hanifin but I'm pretty disappointed.

Why would the pick in 26 necessarily be worse than in 25? Vegas may well be terrible by then.

Ottawa got 2 and a half years of playing out of the deal. Vegas may get 30 games.

Isn’t it basically a first and a second rounder as Vegas is likely a lock to win a round this year.
Miromanov is actually decent, basically a poor man Colton Parayko. If given a full season he’s a potential 25-40 point dman. It’s actually a pretty good return, someone posted similar to the monahan deal, no, it’s better because we get a prospect and a 2nd instead of just a 3rd.

It's fine TBH.
The 2025 pick has top 10 protection but the 2026 pick has no protection and guys like Pietrangelo, Marchessault, and Stone are starting to age out a bit.
Vegas is going all in for this season it appears and want their 2024 1st and 2025 1st available to be able to go after Guentzel tomorrow.
If almost be shocked if they don't get Guentzel at this point.
Flames never should have been afraid of future 1st round picks in any of the deals...I actually prefer them.
The real problem is it should have been the 1st, 2nd with no condition, and one of Edstrom, Sapovaliv, Cormier or Korczak.
But the condition on the 1st is fine.

That's the McKenna draft.
If there's no protection on that one, even its a long shot, don't mind having another shot at that kid. Vegas is an old-ass team. Their window may not be long
in fact I would rather they trade the 2025 pick and take a shot at the unprotected 2026.
not thrilled with the return but it is what it is, unless people somehow believe Conroy turned down better offers.

Same return we got for J Bo. A first, AHL d-man and something that turns into a second

Yeah, should have been the Flames choice. On to the next one.
Hard to believe Boston, Tampa and Florida wouldn’t match.

Yeah, because you can’t keep protecting indefinitely.
