not having some sort of media update from the ea nhl team is pretty amazing. If there is even a little bit coming in these content patches, why not express that publicly? My bet is that they aren't going to make any kind of media update to the public until after the launch so as to avoid notifying pre-order customers or folks intent on buying the game launch day who haven't followed the pre-launch reaction.
Yeah it was crazy.
Rammer and the game were just getting torn apart on twitter and he kept posting these happy tweets from the launch event yesterday.
No response, no clarifications, just straight up ignoring the issues and backlash getting brought up.

I can't really think of anybody's shoes I'd rather be in less than Rammer's right now. They get torn apart when the games are good... this is going to be a slaughter. Usually the strong reviews and sales are there, but I really question if they'll get either this year.

Pardon my ignorance, but are all these modes missing on just the next gen console versions or were the same corners cut for current gen too?
The old console versions are a replica of NHL 14 in pretty much every way. From game modes, to gameplay, to the menus. The new consoles are the only ones getting an unfinished game.

The reviews are generally strong, but the sales dropped a lot last year.
I actually wonder if the declining sales are a reason for the lack of a game this year, have to wonder if the budget got cut.
The game didn't break a million in sales last year and had a big drop from NHL 13. Have to wonder if the poor sales led to a limited budget for a team that was already working on two games.

From what I heard they've been working on this title for 2 years, I know the EA NHL series is a small budget team to begin with so I don't see EA cutting out funding for the series. IMO its just bad resource useage on the dev team.
Didn't Rammer promise us a brand new Stanley Cup celebration for NHL 15 as well...... it looks exactly the same as 09 but without the stupid video projected on the ice.

The way they do their ratings bothers me. All of the players are way too close together. I'm sure it makes online balanced, so I understand why they do it, but for offline modes (Be A GM, Be A Pro) it would be way better if there was a more noticable gap between the players.

Just got back from cancelling my pre-order at EB Games and the girl said at least 10 other people had cancelled since she got to work. Awesome. I hope they take a massive dent in sales because of this.
And rightfully so. I hope this game takes a major collision in sales cause they deserve it. Its pretty much a scam, theres no other way to put it. If you buy the game, that means you support EAs BS practices.

What if I buy this game because I want to play with my 7 year old and all he cares about is the actual gameplay not the other modes?
I'm keeping my discounted pre-order since the stripped down modes don't effect the way me and my buddies play. How will I sleep at night knowing I support EA's BS practices?

I too have decided to keep the pre-order. If they never end up patching in fixes for the modes, shame on me I suppose, but if they do and I end up having to pay 30 dollars more for the game? Well, that's on me too.
I'll take my chances trusting the promise of a patch now.

buy second hand? wait until it is at least cheaper? He's 7 does it matter too much if he doesn't play it day 1? Is it the gameplay he cares about or the "game play with dad?"
Several ways to look at it and if what is in the game satisfies you then certainly buy it. But at least you looked into what is missing and what isn't and came to that decision. There will be many who are going to assume all those historical modes are actually in the next-gen game, like everyone really would have without All Access. It's pretty dirty pool to ship what is an unfinished game to people. I can accept a "bad" but complete game. But a bad because they don't care or it's unfinished really ought not to be rewarded in the grand scheme of things.
