Not this again. It is an official team colour, it isn't going anywhere. (thank god, black with red is awesome!)

Just because it's an official colour doesn't mean they can't remove it in future iterations. Teams have changed logos and colours in the past. Flames did so themselves when they've added the black.
The only colour you can basically guarantee to be permanent is red.

It's worth noting, though, that almost any ugly jersey immediately looks better with Gaudreau #13 on the back.

Yellow really should be as well, seeing as they've worn it since entering the league 43 years ago. But it seemed dangerously close to being eliminated altogether in the early to mid 2000's, so you're probably right.

I just want our jerseys to look somewhat unique. The problem with black, white, and red are the the Flames, Devils (our third Jersey is basically their normal jersey), Senators, Blackhawks, and Hurricanes ALL use these colours (although in different ways).
So either make the tone of red unique, or use more yellow. For the purposes of standing out, both red and yellow have to be permanent and prominent. I would like that.

And? It never used to be one. Purple and green used to be official team colours for the Ducks. Red, copper, and navy blue used to be official team colours for Edmonton. Just about everything has been an official team colour for Vancouver. Red with black is not awesome, it's overdone, boring, and unoriginal. Red, yellow, white. It's ours. We don't need black. We can get rid of it.

Gold is so tacky and that's a Sens jersey.
Red, black and tan I'd love though.

Style of jersey makes it more than colours. Lots of teams use red, or black or both. That mock up is Sens jersey mainly due to design.

A few weeks ago there was a great photo posted in the goalie masks thread - Hiller going full retro during the warmups:
I've tried to apply my previously posted retro concepts ...
... using a high contrast version of the logo where yellow outline is separated from white:
The image was photo-edited in hurry (especially the away version where I struggled a bit to find a suitable image of white retros).
But it is the first attempt to bring this concept to life, I hope you like it.

i agree that the jersey is red/black/tan (it's actually cream - but whatever)
just becuz the jersey uses the same colours doesn't make it 'some other team's jersey'
using that argument the sens wore a 'flames' jersey for 7 years....
red/white/black/gold... found in both of these....
what about red/white/black... current teams that use that scheme for a jersey are... carolina (away), chicago, new jersey & senators. i don't look at a carolina away jersey (which i absolutely love!) and think it's a sens jersey just becuz they both use red/white/black.
**playmaker - that mock up on hiller looks sooooo sweet!! love it!

For the folks that want the tan jersey, would the tan be the home dark jersey or the road 'white' jersey?

Or would the tan be the alternate?

I think a tan (or 'burnt white' as I like to refer to it in Flames terms) would make a great alternative to white.
I tried it and got mixed reviews, but thought it worked pretty well with red and yellow.
On the flipside, pure white gives a much more aggressive and vibrant look. Works with a 'burning hot fire' vibe.

Using the BC color scheme would be kinda neat.
Have a tanned Flaming 'C' on red for the home, with the red pants/gloves/helmet, and a red Flaming 'C' with a tan outline on white for the road jersey.
I must say, the red helmets on the white jerseys look cool.
Does the NHL allow colored helmets with white jerseys anymore?

I dont know if there's a rule against it, but I think of Colorado is the only team to have done it and it looked weird and didn't last long.
Came across this while looking for an image. WTF?
