Imo Zary doesn't work as the piece for Laf. Too much injury and not enough upside. Lafs worst seasons are zarys best.
I do think coronato has a smidge more value today but dont know how much.
What about coronato+bzrutewicz for lafreniere and Schneider... is that too much in our favor?

Coronato is 2 years younger than Laf and is a righty not a lefty, pair that with AF not being a center and I just don’t understand any motivation from Calgary’s perspective to make that switch. Bru I think has a much higher ceiling offensively too than Schneider has and he’s 4 years younger… the flames shouldn’t be trading any of our young pieces away especially when the perceived upgrades are negligible at best.
AF would basically be a c or d version of Huberdeau here in this system, not worth the pursuit at all IMO.

Shark for Laf is about as much as you'd want to give up.
I don't think a change of scenery does much for him at this point, he is what he is.

I think a little bit of patience here will be required from the flames, teams know we are motivated sellers even at this point in the season so they will try to be like vultures to a degree but if CC keeps a steady hand I think eventually teams will come calling with more competitive offers for our collection of vets. There isn’t much pressure on any of the contenders to add at this point either so keep just chipping away at the schedule and wait for the phone to ring with the proper offer on the other end of it.

I see this as a somophere slump for Coronato, with the pressure of the new Contract weighting on him, and him trying to do too much. In a more offensively minded system he's going to score 30.
If you could use Coronato in a package for someone like Kyrou then sure, but I don't think it's realistic.

I likely wouldn’t even do that, Kyrou is 27 will be 28 by seasons end, completely outside of our developing cores age range and literally taking an important piece of that future core in Coronato to land a piece that isn’t close to good enough to pull this Flames team into a contention window this year or in the future. Patience, patience, patience. Can’t be stated enough.

I'd try and take a swing that didn't involve Coronato.
If we gain additional 1st round picks in Andersson and/or Coleman/Kadri deals, I'd try and do a
Zary + Pospisil + 1st + 2nd or something for Laf and see if NYR bites. If we can trade Andersson and at least one of if not both Coleman and Kadri, Conroy is going to be in a spot where he can make one of those "quantity for quality" trades, and Laf is a guy I'd happily do that for.

Kyrou is sick, he isn’t the guy for us. Prospects only or 18-24 year olds

Coleman just announced a fourth baby on the way. So if he gets traded it’s gotta be back to Dallas at this rate..

There is no obvious shake-up trade to be made, though.
Maybe you can move Yegor for someone else's problem? Has Farabee recovery his value in the eyes of other GMs?
The other trades are bigger and more complex: Raz, Blake and Naz
Those will have lots of moving pieces. Even if the offers are good right now (probably are not) I think CC will want to survey the league and make sure he is getting the best return. That takes time as other teams consider how real their chances are this season and what they are willing to spend. It takes weeks/months for those sorts of deals to materialize, usually.
The best GMs always get their deals done before the TDL.

For a 1OA whose best season is 57 points who’s had the benefit of playing with Panarin for some seasons??? I’d keep the 1sts and 2nds honestly. No reason to rush anything here and buy lows can be risky, especially when using draft capital we should be accumulating during this period of time.

Seems a little premature to be considering trading Zary or Coronato. Let's just stick to offloading what vets we can. Like Heavy Jack said - lets show a little patience.

Well, he is 1 year, 1 month older. But I think the rest of your points are fair.
I think Lafreniere has better upside than most. I actually think Huberdeau and he would work together well.

The concern with waiting on Kadri too long is who else becomes available as a 2C.
Does Pittsburgh drop off? Schenn in StL? Mcdavid???? Id hate for the market to grow when right now we are the only sellers.

That's fair.
I just look at the ideal situation of moving Kadri, Coleman, and Andersson and that could easily equate to 3 more 1st round picks spread across '26 and '27. Will the team really make 6 1st round picks in 2 years? I don't know, I'd love it.
I also see the impatience Canadian teams show, and to me...Conroy would flip one or two of those picks for a player in the right age range/ceiling, and Laf likely fits that bill.

I think it is a mistake to think of these trades as a commodity auction, as lots of posters here do.
If you are in the market for 'Naz,' there is only one. You are probably not in the market for 'generic #2C.' The Dregers of the world always frame it this way, but #2 centres are not all equal. If you want Naz, you'll be pissed off if you don't get him. Maybe you make do with buddy in St Louis, but you didn't get Naz and all his wonderful dark arts that he can employ when he is not burdened with #1C duties like he is right now.
Same applies for Coleman, probably Ras and Weegar too. Maybe Lombo?
Guys with reputations have scouting books written on them. It's these well documented attributes that the other GMs want. They know there will be lots of interest around the league and that CC will take his time to get what he needs in the deal. The only clock that is ticking is the contender's clock. We have all the time in the world.
So it's less a distressed inventory auction, as many people here frame it, and more like 'the only Picasso on the market this year is at auction at Sotheby's right now.' Bid now or forever hold your piece.

Could we see Chicago start to add this year after a big start? They have two firsts and an empty forward roster.

We should trade Cooley. Currently best save % in the league. Strike while the iron is hot!
