Could be confusing you with someone else for sure (sorry if that’s the case), but there’s a handful of posters in the PGT that sing that narrative every game and are the first to pull the classless card anytime someone says something remotely
Disparaging about a Flames player.

Time to take a chill pill. No one is uttering threats. They just want him gone like the rest of us. I cannot fathom an uproar over the term "bum"
Poor Gully's getting a bum rap around here.

Sometimes people use little "petty" arguments to go off topic and bring a little attention to themselves. It seems to be working.

Troy Brouwer called Gulutzan a bum in practice once. It didn't end well.

My bad. I didn't mean for it to go off the rails that way. I shan't post more about that (for a coaching thread it was really good too).

Then why do you continue to post in it? Really? It's a terrible thread in your opinion yet you are a contributor. I'm not getting involved in the "bum" discussion but it's fair game to discuss the head coach of the Calgary Flames on a Calgary Flames message board. We just came off one of the most miserable seasons in franchise history and if you don't think the coach deserves some criticism or doesn't deserve to be fired then by all means continue posting to defend him but stop with the 'holier than thou' garbage.

He should consider a career change then. If being an NHL coach was his dream, then he got to live his dream a couple of times. It doesnt change the fact that he's not very good at being an NHL head coach. A lot of everyday, ordinary people are forced to change jobs or careers because they are in roles they are not good at and cant succeed at; its just a reality of life. The fact that Gulutzan potentially got to live his dream and get paid quite well it is something most people dont get to do.

I have said many times I really like Glen Gulutzan the man. He seems like the kind of guy that you would like to work with or have as a friend and I think he and his family should be proud of the man he is regardless of what happened during his tenure with the Flames. He's getting compensated very well to be an NHL head coach and the ugly side of being an NHL head coach is that your work behind the bench will be scrutinized and criticized by fans and media. Every head coach signs on for that when they accept the job so while I feel bad if his family is reading this thread I would hope they realize that it's nothing personal and that even his detractors think he's a great guy and human being.

The tweet from Chip Alexander a few pages back suggested Peters has until Friday to opt out. If Peters is the guy, I would expect something to come from the Flames before the weekend.

Well I'm one who is hoping Peters is not the guy, based on nothing more than coaching record in the NHL

To go back to an earlier point of mine, if he ends up replacing Gulutzan I have to think its because Treliving wants to keep the style of play more or less the same but add a little more gravel to the voice.
He isn't my 1st or 2nd choice but I'll support the decision. The Hurricanes play a quick game, less methodical. I think the players we have here will fit into Peters style of play just fine and when there are lapses he'll let them know.
One concern I do have is Peters' support staff. Steve Smith handles the defense. He can stay in Carolina.
I also appreciate the concern over his W/L record in the NHL as a head coach thus far. Yeah, its not great. But neither were the Hurricanes and yet he still had them playing meaningful hockey into the end of this season. There was motivation. Where was it here?

It is not great, but one thing to notice in a broader context is that for the WHL and AHL teams Peters has coached, they have not performed as well after he has moved on.
