I love how people automatically assume after one result that they'd own russia everytime.

They were bad defensively all tournament long... but in this game against real firepower, they got exposed badly.
We would score at least 7 almost every time... it's just a matter of whether Russia would put up more than 3 against us.

It's amazing how many people were saying we couldn't compete with Russia before the start of the tournament.
We're looking good. A hot goaltender could still shut us down (see the game vs. the States), but I'm confident we can beat any of the remaning teams.
And yes, Toews, Doughty, Weber, all have been great for us. We have a really good mix of youthful energy, seasoned skill, and veteran experience on this team. No complaints tonight.

Speaking of diving, anyone notice how Bingo Bango isn't pulling his usual shtick of flopping around, and "dying" when taking a slap shot to his chest like he does all the time with Vancouver?
I think the rest of the people in that dressing room told him they won't put up with his usual garbage act and that he should focus solely on saving pucks, and drop the theatrics...

Or he just hasn't taken a puck to the collar bone/neck area in his 3 games so far. One of the two.

I would agree with that, but I don't think anyone had to tell him and I'm one of the biggest Canuck haters that is alive.
Greaser I think realizes a Gold Medal is on the line and he has bought in.

Its not worth the conversation if you think you'll score 7 on russia everytime. As bas as they are on defence they are still better than the swiss on D in which case you only scored 2. It just depends on the game, the russians came out flat and fell too far behind. Simple as that. You also only scored 3 on USA and don't give me that Miller crap, because with a good goalie tonight you don't score 3 of those goals.
Canada is the team to beat and always will be but I do get a little tired of the homerism. One minute there is panic mode after a few games and next minute the team is godlike. Its a one game tournament Canada needs to bring tonights game every game. The russians definately didn't play there A game tonight.

Willie "parade route" Mitchell has done it the last few times they've played him, so I'm not sure why anyone's surprised that a team of all-star d-men could do the same....

Great game by Canada. THIS is what l have been expecting from our D all this time in terms of offence. Great outlet passes and some smart defensive plays. Yes Russia scored 3, but they were going to get there chances regardless of who was on defence.
Shea Weber is an absolute BEAST and it's very impressive watching him improve game by game. Both him and Doughty. Gives me great hope for Canada's blueline in the future.

Because Canada's defense hasn't looked that good this tournament. That being said, Ovechkin has had a very poor tournament this Olympics.

Canada did what they had to do, score more goals than Luongo let in, hopefully they can continue that, cause the goaltending is still suspect for this team.

While all Flames fans hate Luo you really do take that to an ugly place. Luo did fine tonight. Hate him or not he is an elite goalie.

I bet if Luongo stopped 80 shots and got a shutout in the gold medal game, you'd find something wrong with him. I have no love for Lou, but when he's not playing for the Canucks I like him just fine and respect him as a goalie.

He was fine, but fine isn't good enough, if it's a tight game.
