Well another Sunday and another loss.... We lost 4-3 again. We had a 2 goal lead going into the 3rd but gave up 3 in the final frame and got beat. I had another Assist and got scolded for the ref for playing too physical. I checked a guy with his head down and then put a body on the guy along the boards..... He told me this is a non contact league !!! Of course he didnt say anything when the goalie tried to punch me .....
Oh well , loving this hockey stuff... Hopefully a "W" is coming soon!

Here is an update....
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
We have played 8 games (stats dont include another game vs the tripods again today) so far and played THe Tripods 4 Times, The Hawks 2 times, the Smart Alecs 2 times. The Tripods, ughhh half of them could play up 2 divisions. But they work at the rink and make the schedule. Every week one team has a back to back to double header. They play every team on the 2nd game. When its their turn for a double header they get a couple hour break, while everyone else is back to back. They havent played the best team yet. The play us a total of 8 times in a 15 game league . Its pretty bogus, as you can tell from the stats.

Bring it on!!!! I will say this for the Tri-pods, they are dicks on the ice but they are pretty cool people off the ice... We scrimmaged them Friday night because our rink made us a deal to split ice with them every friday night. They were very cool and were actually working with us and trying to teach us some things.
We did post game tailgating today and a couple of them came over and shot the with us. I dont like them running up the score and how they make schedules in their favors but they are pretty cool off the ice.
Still , bring a couple guys down and we can give them an ass whopping CP style ... if it makes any difference , one of their guys wears Oilers Edge socks... ammunition for your hatred right there!

Yeah I didnt think it was a redirect on my part.. They gave the goal to the guy who shot it . I knew something hit me but I had been beat up all game and just figured it was one of their guys hitting me . I watch the video of our game and no one was close enough to hit me so it equals Nicker's goal . I called the shooter and razzed him a bit. he didnt mind cause he already had 12 goals and only a single assists. He said he needs assists so it didnt look so lopsided HAHA!

Ok another win today to make it 2 in a row.... Sadly the Ref did not give me the goal last week on my re direct. So officially I hadnt scored a goal yet. I went ahead and potted one this week just so I could make it official. My guys played great and we won 7-2 . We had 5 first time goal scorers today!!! It was awesome to see them so excited!! Whoever donated a helmet, one of the first goal scorers was wearing your helmet!!! Just thought id toss that in there so you would know your helmet in contributing !!
Thanks again guys!! I will continue to keep you updated!

MOONDAWGS WIN!!!!!! 8-5 against the No. 1 team in the league, The Tinker Hawks!!!!
We had a hell of a game. We were down 4-0 in the first. Tinker has a team in All 4 divisions. They used their D-2 goalie and 2 D-2 guys. We scored on the good goalie with 1 sec left in the 1st . It was sweet, off the face off they won it and I took it from their wing and just centered it. It hit one of our guys on the tape and he buried it .
It was one of the funnest games of the season. I scored a goal on a rebound and had 3 assists. Our best goal scorer had 5 goals. The thing is we finally figured out how to pass! The good goalie left 4 mins into the 2nd and we just went off.
The best part for me wasnt the points, ( although today is my Canadian wedding anniversary so I had to score for my wife. I scored there so now Im trying to score again if you know what I mean) it was talking with one of their D-2 guys. He was skating in front of me and just lost an edge. I tried to avoid him and hit with what he thought was a stick.
He said "Watch your Stick 10" , I simply replied with " Hey Stay on your feet there ya bender" He then said "oh yeah I havent seen you on the ice yet is this your 1st shift"
I said Oh what internet site did you get that one from, it sounds real good coming from a guy that is supposed to be playing 2 levels up and still cant put on in the net here, I think you need to work on a lil finish!"
It went on the rest of the game , it was great! But still 4 wins on the season and giving these guys their first loss is AWESOME!

Well playoffs start for us tomorrow. Its single elimination playoff so its win or the Moondawgs inaugural season is over. We ended our season at 5-14 Since we did have 12 of our 19 games against the 2 best teams in the league...
So 5 wins , and one line brawl on the season.. Not to bad...
We had a brawl week before last when we played the best team we had just beat. They had a black guy who plays on their division 2 whom was here again. ( i talked about him a couple posts ago. He wears number 12.. All duded up in the Easton gear ... Guess what I started calling him... If you said a Wanna be Iggy then your right.. However I started razzing him and most of the other guys did too .. They beat us 5-3 and when we were shaking hands.. he goes crazy and just starts throwing bombs. He is in the Canadian Military so he could handle himself. However it somehow ended with our team getting 6 suspensions and them getting 1. All in all an entertaining fight..

That sounds like a bizarrely awesome brawl!
Best of luck to you and the rest of the Moondawgs in the playoffs!!! You've got all of CP cheering for you (even if some of them don't know it yet )!

It really frustrated my team of beginners . Oh well at least we improved on a few things. A lot of work still to do ...

Wow what a bunch of d*cks.... let's go to beginner hockey and beat the snot out of them and make it to where they don't want to play again.
Surprised that liberties even in rec league were not taken because of this.

we had the same problem in our men's hockey division last season. it was my team's first season so we entered the lowest skilled division - which is where our skill level is. a bunch of other new teams also joined div 5 and they were killing everyone.... we lost a few games by double digits! ouch!! talk about killing my goals against! mind you, i was getting 60+ shots a game so my save percentage actually wasn't that bad! ha! ha!
after about a month into the season, the guy who runs the league takes a look at the top & bottom teams in each division and moves teams up or down accordingly. he does this again around christmas. good thing there wasn't a div 6 becuz we would have been sent down! ha! ha! once the realignment happened our division was a blast - anyone could win on any given night.
i don't get why super skilled guys want to play in lower divisions - do they really think there are scouts watching in the stands??

well I did not get suspended but I didnt end the fight for Iggy Jr..... Somehow when he made his mad rush to start throwing punches I got knocked down from behind.. I was in the bottom of this pile getting pummeled and trying not to get hurt. I realize Iggy jr was right in front of me So I grabbed him, stood up and just toassed him ... NICKER-BOMB style... that allowed the refs to jump on him and pin him down. Then I left the ice , I guess they couldnt remember my number bc one guy who got suspended... Broke his ankle 2 week before and oddly was in Las Vegas getting married the night of this game... Funny stuff eh...
Thanks everyone for your support. I will keep updates coming... Season 2 , the Military Canadian teams are back in town so they have a team in every division. You guys will should prob root for them against us, as it is your tax dollars paying for their league fees. The Canadian govt gives them 20k for all the teams to play haha!!

Wear your shin pads even for a stick and puck. 6 months or so ago we had an experienced player in our Springfield Missouri leagues catch a rut, hit the boards hard and exploded his knee cap. It was the one time he decided to go without shin pads because it was just a stick and puck.
Our fees are ~$200 per person for each of fall and winter seasons (15-17 games each season, C league) and a bit less for Summer league (11 games, B/C league). The teams are drafted every year but core players tend to stay together from year to year. Our "C" league tends to have players who come into the league with reasonable skating ability though they may never had picked up a stick or have skated for 20 years. The latter would be me when I started in January. The Winter league was a learning experience for me as I figured out the flow of the game and how it looks on the ice...and I was playing D. I've managed to keep up reasonably well in the summer B/C league potting 5 goals and having 6 assists in 7 games I've made it to as a winger (note my center played some women's college hockey and can skate like the wind, so I've had some great chances and someone to finish passes off). Our B and C leagues are significantly below the level of the same leagues in St. Louis, Wichita and Little Rock. They tend to have A leagues made up of former college and pro players. We have no such talent base out of Springfield.
I'm probably going to add a second night of hockey every week by playing in Springdale, Arkansas if I enjoy the pick up game on the 25th. They don't separate the playing levels yet don't turn anyone away so it may really suck.

Jordan Valley Ice park huh eh?? I used to live in Branson and I tried to go to hockey class there before I moved back to Oklahoma. The guy names Al who gave the lessons was a jerk... He wouldnt ever teach .. just say now when I blow the whistle do a hockey stop. I asked how do you do that? I cant even skate . He just blew the whistle and laughed at me when all I did was fall... Nice Ice Arena though ...
