Called that one.
Friday night I was having a beer with people that knew him well. Seen pictures of him at xmas this past year. Just unfortunate all the grief he has caused. No words to explain this.

Saves us from having to hear about another trial for months on end as well.

Stanley 'Tookie' Williams, the creator of the Crips was one of them. Duh, I totally knew that.

This is what happens when you have criminal justice laws that are too strict... potentially innocent fugitives kill themselves over fear of being unjustly incarcerated for decades. We need to reform sentencing to focus on rehabilitation... arguably, this is all Harper's fault.

Kind of a fitting end. I'm sure this will become a made for tv movie in no time. It has all the signature plot lines, right to the end. Who knows what really happened, and I guess now we'll never know. It's probably better this way, less hassle for everyone and a fitting end for himself.
I don't agree with others that taking your life is the easy way out. When prisoners get paid to sit around, get exercise time, tv time, have meals made for them, free education and the like, what kind of punishment is that? A prison in mexico, maybe, America? That's the easy way out, with high price lawyers, he'd get a private cell because he's now a "celebrity" stay protected and be interviewed by tv personalities all over the country, I think he did what was coming for himself in the long run. We can all hope he did this out of grief, guilt and madness. Maybe it means he had a conscience.

easy way out refers to avoiding what you have done, not facing those that you have hurt, both on the victim's side and you own, and providing some semblance of closure for them. not the punishment.

I know I'd want the *#$%er dead if he killed my daughter like that. It would be closure for me. Now there's no waiting to see the trial, to see how he pleads, to see what the sentence is, for everyone, this is now over.

well, some people need a reason or need to face the criminal. people cope and/or deal with things in very different ways. some forgive.

Yeah, the coward's way out. Too bad we won't get to see him face justice for his crime.
