A sure sign you are not 100% comfortable with this.
You are willing to lie to your mother.
I suspect because she likely will say some of the things I have been.

If you can not hold your head up and be proud of what you do with your own family; how can you expect a man in your life to be?

Here's my thoughts on this job. The money sounds good and it may even be fun for you but it may not be also. Having to deal with these guys in not exactly their finest moments may change your outlook on men, and not for the better. If you decide to do it, keep a close watch on your feelings and be prepared to pull the pin before becoming jaded.

Well, because that is the way society works in a lot of cases.

Would my family give me a tough time because the girl I was dating was in the sex industry? Absolutely they would and to be quite honest, that is stress I really don't need in my life. Yeah, it probably would stop me from pursuing a serious relationship with you.

Do I personally have a problem with it? Not really, but I'd probably look at you under a tougher microscope than I would someone else in another profession. Maybe that is just me or the nature of the profession.

That would be incorrect. Mom wants to know that her baby boy is being taken care of as well as she can. And that means by a woman of good character. Which comes back to the perceptions mentioned by NulclearFart. A potential mother-in-law looks at everything about the woman her precious boy is going to marry.

Again, I disagree. It might be your nature to judge a book by its cover, but it's not human nature.

I treat everyone I meet with the same level of trust and respect that I would like to be treated with... and I leave it up to them to either keep that level of trust/respect, or to lose it.

Obviously, I have bad days. I'm not perfect in any stretch of the imagination... but I do my best to be a decent person and not treat others differently just because of what they do, or how they dress.

I've had a lot of different jobs in my time.... I was a social worker, an addictions counselor... I managed a drop-in center for homeless people... I've even been in their shoes a time or two.

I just don't see the point in walking through life with blinders on. It takes all kinds of people to make the world turn, and I'm no better and no worse than any one of them.

I need to add, though, that I am not naive. Obviously, it takes some people less time to lose my trust and respect than others. If I see some jackass roll up beside me in pimp-mobile, with thug lights and an uzi... I'm probably not going to lend him 20 bucks.

I'd rather trust and respect everyone until they've unearned it.

I'm not saying either way is right... I'm just saying that thinking everyone lives like you do seems more like sand in your eyes than mine.

It's not about changing the world... it's about not letting the world change you.
Oh please, everytime some moral issue comes out in this forum, people get on their high horse, without opening their eyes to reality.

I'd love to live in your world, but we both know its a dream. People will always be judgemental of each other, it's embeded in our very evolution to judge, to size up potential mates. While we may vary on whatwe judge, you cannot deny that the society we are raised in shapes what we value. From infancy onwards you are taught to shun prostitution and its lesser derivatives, which sadly for the MissD, phone sex is lumped into by the majority.

And they key word is majority, as it doesnt need to be everyone. Majority rules. Deal with it or hide from it.

I wasn't talking about MY MOM!!!! I was talking about NuclearFarts reference to a hypothetical boyfriend's mom. You are a born politician! I have no secrets from my mother. She knows I am considering this.

Exactly! Be honest and don't hide anything from your partner. Once they find out, trust is lost and is sometimes hard to regain.

I know you keep bringing this up, but its not like you don't have a choice of second job here

For this reason, taking this phone sex job will stain you, regardless of your motives or how awesome you are.

What is this a popularity contest? If everyone doesn't act or behave the same way, they're outcasts?

Come on man. I pick my own morals and my own values. I don't give a rat's ass what society thinks or says about something. I inform myself and I come to my own conclusion.

I don't watch talk shows, I don't watch opinion-based news shows. I get the facts and I digest them and sort them out according to what I believe in.

Maybe in an election, the majority wins... but that majority doesn't get to decide what I feel is right and/or wrong.

I notice the "majority" love violent movies and watching people get their heads blown off. I hate unnecessarily gory movies and won't watch them. I prefer chick flicks. Movies about people with stories that are interesting.

Am I right? Am I wrong? Majority would say I'm wrong... but I'd say I'm right.

Guess who gets to live my life and pay my bills? Me.

...and here's the kicker: All my friends are just like me, so... in our world... we are the majority.

Moron??? That's your lack of self confidence kicking. If you like who you are why does it matter what comments people might say?

Sorry, I misunderstood. Let me rephrase that:

A sure sign you are not 100% comfortable with this.
You are willing to lie to his mother.
I suspect because she likely will say some of the things I have been.

If you can not hold your head up and be proud of what you do with your his family; how can you expect a man in your life to be?

... and what did your mother have to say about it?

Here's a poster who believes in himself. Follow the road less traveled.

Well stated FanIn80!

Did you start this thread to find potential mates or seek opinions?

Ultimately, that's the point I'm trying to make.

NOBODY else in this world has to wear your shoes. Not your family, not your friends, not your politicians. Nobody but you.
