sorry, but gow does not destroy halo3. they are different games entirely. gow is a 3rd person shooter with a certain style of play...and intended grainy graphics that contrast to halo3's more lush design. but it does not destroy halo3.
at the end of the day, halo3 will sell more than gow. marketing? hype? what does it matter? people choose to buy whatever it is they want. it doesn't make it better or worse for anyone but the purchaser.
its like me saying that burnout is the best driving game. why? pgr4, n4s, forza etc all are good games.

I played a bit of co-op last night after getting home. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Although I had to be the Arbiter - not MC. Going to have to look into that in the settings, I hate being Arbiter.
Really enjoyed it though. Better then my first quick go in the later afternoon.

Graphics are on par with Perfect dark zero (no jokes) and the sound quality is is good as Goldeneye on the N64.

this may be the funniest statement i've ever seen on Calgarypuck..there is no way in hell that Halo 3's sound and graphics are on par with Goldeneye and Perfect Zero.

Not a Halo fan but not a basher either. I've seen it enough to know the graphics are pretty decent and sound is excellent. The presentation value of Halo 3 is top notch.

Only played the 1st level, but I have to say that so far Halo 3 is awesome! Not sure what MissKat's playing but since I played H1 & 2 on the old Xbox stepping up to the X360's graphics and sound is probably the biggest difference.
Agreed, you can't compare GoW with H3. I like GoW better, but H3 is outstanding in it's own right.
If you want to crack on a game, I'd target Bioshock. I still don't see what the big deal is about this game. Basically lost interest in it 85% of the way through.
Playing it on Heroic - this is harder than I remember.... may step back.

Bioshock was the perfect example of a game that executed well, got stellar reviews, and became totally useless after 1 playthrough.
Zero replay value. Thanks so much to all the reviewers who played 2 levels and called it GOTY. You wasted my $30 Best Buy gift certificate.
GRRRR...

I do not have halo 3 but will be considering getting a 360 within the next few months just for the game.
the reason halo has such a mass appeal is because people, like myself, who are not hardcore gamers, (other than the occasional game of DDR I rarely play video games) can actually play it and do reasonably well. The problem with most video games is they have evolved so far beyond my capability I don't enjoy them at all.

I completely disagree.
The Halo community has gotten much too big. Not only do you have to deal with ridiculously annoying people online (either that or don't use your headset), but there's way too many hardcores who play the game 5 hours a night. Most of them just sit there and spawn camp and rack up easy kills on noobs. Having too many hardcores isn't a huge deal in games with actual strategy involved, but for twitch gaming like Halo there's basically no way to overcome it.
The other problem is that the weapons are horribly unbalanced and both games have only a couple weapon combos that are much more effective than anything else. This leads to noobs sticking with the "cool" weapons and the hardcores using the ideal weapons giving them an even greater advantage. Halo is like Starcraft, except the Terrans are clearly the superior race. All the hardcores would always go Terran, but all the new people who gravitate towards the Zerg/Protoss (the cool races).
Every game ends up being exactly the same as it's just a mad rush to get to the weapon spawn locations and all the good players are using the exact same thing. No one ever tries anything new or unique because winning the only that counts. And when you do try to do something different your team bitches at you for not using the right weapon combo, etc.
Halo's a pretty good series, but terribly over-rated. The first game was excellent, but the entire focus of the series is based totally on multiplayer now (which gets boring quickly for twitch gaming). A 5-6 hour campaign is an absolute joke. It's always amusing to hear Halo fanboys defend it by bragging about it's replayability...but can't you do that with any half-decent game?
Best way to spot a Halo fanboy - when they brag about the awesome story and how deep it is. The idea isn't bad, but the implementation (no character development, etc.) is just plain bad.

Well this game is pretty much just awesome. I havent even touched the single player yet, just multi-player online and I am blown away. I didnt think Halo 2 could get any better, but this is fantastic.

Saying GOW is better then Halo is like saying Creed is better then Pearl Jam.
There would be no GOW without Halo. It's a good game, but a complete knock off and no where near as good as Halo. It's not even close. I can't believe anyone would actually think GOW > Halo. Crazy!

Graphically GOW is superior I think, though Halo 3 is looking pretty good so far. Game play wise I thought GOW was awesome, so I wouldn't say it's Creed vs Pearl Jam, more like Pearl Jam vs. Santana.. both awesome but different.
Put a couple of hours into it and already I'm hating the guys with the hammers.

I completely agree, and I played an assload of Halo 2 online.
For awesome online shooter play get Team Fortress 2 when it comes out. That game is going to have strategy out the ying yang and it has cool, original graphics and design.

^^ Sounds the same as any online video game. People figure out what works and keep doing it to win.

GoW: Buddy and I played Co-op on all three difficulties and quite enjoyed it. Insane was quite fun. We haven't played much multiplayer though. 9/10
Bioshock: Played on easy, saving the little girls and I never died. I plan to go back in about 2 months and play the hardest setting and harvesting the girls. Definitely little replay value, but great atmosphere. 8/10
Halo 3: Barely played 10 minutes on the original. I think I'll rent this one and see how it goes.
TF2: Played countless hours on TFC and CS. I'm really looking forward to this coming out.
