In all my history of watching the Flames, don't think I have EVER seen a FA day as quiet as this past one. Correct me if I am wrong. But it's almost a given that at least a contract or 2 will become albatrosses in the future and the Flames certainly avoided that.
Going FA bin shopping has been a mostly disastrous outing literally each and every time, no matter what the "experts" say or how many WAR charts I see trying to justify it. For this franchise, they simply do not work and do nothing to move the needle.
Extremely refreshing to hear the team stood pat and Conroy is actually following through on his promise to get a better look at the younger players.
Decades of incompetence should have taught us that FA day was a terrible day overall for the franchise and a new approach is needed.
