If Huberdeau doesn't get extended this is the dumbest trade in the history of this team, and that's saying something.
So Huby, you better get signed.
Also - an ex-gf's mother of mine taught Huberdeau in grade school and she always spoke of him as being the most polite boy...so that's neat.

If Huberdeau and Weegar re-sign it’s a grand slam win for the Flames. If they don’t then it’s different.
But in the moment a big win for Calgary imo.

I'm assuming they will be selling off Huberdeau and possibly Weegar. I like the trade.

Also one of the ones that doesn't like this. Both big guys coming back are UFAs next year. It's going to be a massive loss if we can't sign them and you know if we're sniffing the playoffs they're not going to trade them at the deadline to get some of that value back. Oh well - hopefully they have a good sense that they can sign them otherwise this could look very very bad next year.

If they aren't signed by the deadline the Flames have to trade them, I can't imagine Treliving wants to be in a similar situation again

Team clearly isn't looking to rebuild. They will be right on the bubble with Weegar and Huberdeau so they won't trade them. I have a hard time believing they won't test free agency.
Just not much to be excited here. We just pushed the window out a bit but the team will be much worse than last year, and all we get to show for it is a 1st round pick 3 years from now.
Just hate this trade.

Do we have room to sign Kadri, cause if we are gonna keep going for it, we may as well do that too.

You are assuming wrong. BT has stated they are not rebuilding.

Let's not get excited just yet. Huberdeau and Weegar are both UFAs at the end of the season. Both need extensions for this to be a possible win. This is kicking the can down the road until extensions are worked out. The Flames could be in a similar position by the end of the season.
