There isn’t. Same for most crimes.

Beyond patherit and disgusting that this is still a "thing". Someone's career and livelihood, possibly their lives, are in danger for reporting a disgusting act like this. I look forward to the day when people in positions of power are punished for putting repercussions in place. Not likely though as long as money talks.
Cant wait until these players are named, shamed, disgraced and punished for this.

Is there any reason to believe anything will come of this? Witnesses saw a recording of a tape (that no longer exists) 19 years ago. Won't there have to be some actual evidence to bring charges and cooperation from the victim? which could be very difficult depending on her current life situation.

Maybe I missed something, but is there any merit to this claim? I thought he was one of the 5 players that demanded an investigation and released a statement?

might not matter
Individuals' memories of a video can be used as evidence to help prosecute a case, she said. Since the Criminal Code was amended in 1983, however, corroborating evidence isn't required to prosecute sexual assault allegations, she said.

He was the only one calling for an investigation. The other 4 who mentioned anything were denying any involvement. The CBC was alluding to a source who was working with police in the investigation who has this summer identified two players in the video. Given Mr. Upshall was the only one demanding an investigation . . . CBC might not be doing it's job well to keep said source anonymous . . . that said who's to say that it couldn't be someone else entirely.

That all said literally every member of that team except one player went on to play multiple NHL games. So mentioning that the two identified as being in the video by the source 'went on to have NHL careers' isn't really publicly narrowing down much.

Look at everyone so enthralled with knowing who these two teenagers were/are.
Would be nice if we all felt the exact same way about who was on the Gislaine Maxwell/Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking lists? No outrage there, eh?
No government intervention?

Just based on this:
"There was a similar incident back when he played on the Oil Barons where Scottie and other players on the team engaged in group sex with a young, intoxicated girl."

From earlier in the thread, but it sounds like common knowledge for people that were around the Oil Barons and Fort McMurray at that time.

I was living in Fort McMurray in 2002-03. Scottie Upshall probably isn’t the guy who should be encouraging an investigation. The whole town knew about him.

Quote:
Agreed. Stories about him were well known in McMurray. But the Oil Barons were treated like royalty and no one dared to speak poorly about them. Hockey-boy worship in that city was idiotic.

The whole town knew about his involvement in raping a girl with some teammates, much like 2018.

I have a story about Scotty. About 7 years ago my wife was a night manager at a hotel. Scotty and team comes in and is flirty with her nothing different though.
That night he calls down by the outside elevator phone and my wife answers. He says I am glad I got you I am locked out of my room. My wife says I will send someone up. He insisted she comes up. My wife thought that was weird but says okay.
My wife, Kinda weirded out asks security to go up with her. She gets to Scott's floor and hes standing outside his room in his underwear. He sees the security with her opens his door and says never mind I figured it out.
Could have been innocent but she was uneasy about it at the time.
