Looked like the new lines had better offensive chemistry, so that's promising at least. Need to get a couple to build some confidence though.

Sorry what? Oilers scored a goal off a faceoff and it was blown dead because of a hand pass. No hand pass happened. What did the ref see then? He assumed.

How about Pavelski vs Vegas in that historic comeback in the playoffs?

There is a mountain of examples where the refs call something that didn't actually happen.

Markstrom in again eh? Just tuned in on fan 960. Surprised didn't start Rittich, though I guess this is a very important game so you want your #1.

This is a minor gear grinder, but I really dislike how they portray Friedman. That whole segment were his thoughts, he was clear about that, ‘I think’, ‘I think’, ‘I think’. But they cut to him asking “what does the union think of this” and angle him as an “insider”.

I’d rather they just do away with the “insider” all together and just be clear that these are people who study the game, know each team inside out, and look for fits/patterns/potential changes, and report on those. More analysts than insiders. And that’s totally fine! Just be that. But no, they always have to be “hearing” something. Almost completely dismissing all their hard work.

I was just getting back from Starbucks with my soy latte during my morning coffee break and it's first intermission already?!

Anybody know why it was a 3pm start? Trying to get a triple header in if the MTL game wasn't postponed?

On difference is shot handedness
I still want Lindholm with Monahan and Gaudreau, they need a right-handed shot on that line and he makes them both better, as well as preventing them from getting stuck in the D zone after a faceoff. Not to mention that Tkachuk is way better with Backlund than he is with Lindholm. Even if Lindholm is eventually a better 1C than Monahan, all of the top 6 aside from Lindholm have been worse with this configuration.

Having said that, at least Dube is not as much of a black hole as everyone else who has played RW on the Monahan line this year.

I said they don't assume a penalty has taken place just because a player falls. Of course they make mistakes, but that's because they think they see something that didn't happen, not because a player falls and they assume it's a penalty.

I have definitely seen penalties called that on replay were proven to be incorrect, such as high sticking penalties when a player was hit with the puck or a teammate's stick. And there was the ref (not knowing that his microphone was live) who admitted to his colleagues the other night that he made a pretty borderline call because he wanted the team to be penalized. Refs are human and do make mistakes and assumptions at times, just like the rest of us.

Edit: just saw your response above, I agree it is usually more that they think they have seen something that didn't actually happen.

lol, McLennan roasting himself on the TSN broadcast defending teams decisions to play their starter a lot and back to back

"You'd rather have Kiprusoff at 75% than have McLennan at 100%"
