We lost in a gimmick that is more like an allstar game than true hockey.

We were the better team through 60mins and if we had competent goaltending we would have easily won.

It was a great team effort by 18 guys tonight.

Yea some made a mistake that cost us but hockey is a game of mistakes.

If you’re the goalie however you can’t have as many mistakes as ours did tonight and expect to beat the reining Cup champs.

I loved the way the skaters played tonight.

The positives were the big boys put some points on the board and the Flames looked to be the better overall team for the most part. That was Talbot’s worst game in a long time and I do think he is the reason they lost.

Difference was Binnington was excellent tonight all things considered whereas Talbot played quite possibly his worst game of the season. About 10 pucks got by him. Could’ve easily been a laugher if the Blues connected. Talbot has to be better than this.

Overall, loved the team’s game for the first 42 minutes. If this team plays like this more often, they’ll be just fine. Gaudreau looked like he had the swagger back tonight. He and Monahan looked dangerous seemingly every other shift. Buddy Robinson was surprisingly good tonight. Big, mobile and can forecheck. He’ll be in the line up for a while methinks. Team has gotta bring that 3 line team against the Oilers tomorrow to win.

Brutal schedule. The flames face the top team in the conference and their biggest rival the next night?... At least it also happens to the Oilers on Friday/Saturday.

Ok I feel like this was the first night we seen all four lines going throughout the game. I like that Ward went and put Ryan back at Center and put Buddy on the with Johnny and Mony. I though gio has a strong game. I was disappointed in kylignton and Talbot along with no mony on the overtime power play. Overall there is lots of positives to take away from this game, way more then I would have said in the three games before the all star break. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Happy with the post break effort. I’m not going to suggest, he’s “the” answer for our right wing deficiency, but Buddy played well. His adrenaline should carry him through the next two and having his size with Gaudreau and Monahan is a good thing.

Oh, and suggesting Gaudreau had a bad game is very transparent trolling.

I was at the game and it felt like an even game all night. Bad goaltending on both sides. Talbot was slightly worse. Games like this one should end in a tie though. Neither team deserved 2 points tonight,

On a bright side, I really liked Buddy Robinson! I expected to see a bigger Rinaldo. But instead, I saw a big, fast moving and fast-thinking winger. I hope we'll see more of him.

Beating your division rivals or any team in your division is more important than beating the defending champs. The next two games are really four point games.

If Talbot was going to play and have a bad game I would rather it be tonight than tomorrow.

I thought Johnny started off poorly, but progressed throughout the game. I never felt like I was watching a dangerous player though. He still has a ways to go. He was better than what we've seen most of this season but not yet Johnny Hockey but he didn't cost us the team.

Talbot just didn't have it tonight. He'll get it back.

I didn't dislike many other player's performances tonight. They did well. Goaltending sunk the team. Late in the 3rd you could see a team that was panicking in their own zone because they didn't trust the goalie.

I thought the effort was there and Johnny and Mony looked energized, hope that continues.

Couple of things that have been bothering me all season:

1) this team is atrocious in their own end. They were decent under Peters but it has just gone to hell now. Just poor coaching in this regard.

2) I hate how this team forecheck, it’s essentially a one man forecheck and hope they win the one on one battle. You watch the blues and it’s a team forecheck, as a defender, even when you think you have the first forecheck beat, the second guy is on you right away. The Blues don’t give you any time and space, they smother you and pressure you into a turnover.

3) another thing the Blues so well is they don’t give up defensively until they get the puck. I see the Flames back checking and sometimes they are in the right place or the right angle to stop or delay the puck carrier but then they just back off and give the carrier a new life and options to make a play. The Flames just don’t have that “dog on a bone” attitude when it comes to backchekcing. I think this is a coaching thing too. The coaching staff has to teach this.

4) the gap on the break outs is way too large. At first I was blaming the forwards for blowing the zone too early but I now think it’s a combination of the forwards leaving too soon and the defenseman taking way to long to make an outlet pass. They wait so long that the forwards are no longer in forward motion and can’t attack with speed. The big gap also makes it harder to get the pass through the opposition. With the speed of the forwards and skilled defenseman this team has, those breakouts need to be a lot quicker.

Losing in a shootout to one of the best hockey teams in the world isn’t really anything to lose sleep over.

Sucks they couldn’t have squeaked out that 2nd point but what can you do? Win tomorrow and all is forgiven.

I've been tough on him this season (for good reason), but he was at least skating tonight. He had 2 assists, and missed on 2 breakaways. Could have had a huge night.

Definitely one of his better games this year.
