Can you explain Hamilton's minus 40 giveaway/takeaway differential? Can you explain Gio's differential? It's a pretty black and white stat, you give the puck away and you take it away. You give it away, you lose possession, you take it away, you get possession.

They play together all the time so why does one have such a negative differential and the other near zero or positive?

What would the Flames have to give up to get Zucker, Neideriter, or Coyle?

Have to be something around Bennett? Kylington could be available with Hanifin and Valimaki as future left hand D. Gillies could be a trade chip?

Default Friedman's 31 - June 25. Dougie's role. Rieder UFA. Flames interested in Zucker?

I was just stating my viewing experience and opinion. I wasn’t trying to pass it off as a “fact”.

You’ve brought up what I imagine is a factual piece of information, so then at least we could have a conversation as to whether or not this one particular stat equates Dougie being a tire fire defensively or not. My post was just to call someone out who was trying to state “factual” things when it was pretty clear they were just stating their opinion without much in the way of evidence.

Depends on what Minnesota is trying to do, but I don’t think Bennett gets you Zucker and I don’t think the Flames should be targeting Coyle or Nino.

Are they trying to add picks to rebuild on the fly while saving some money (hence he Ennis throw in requirement to acquire Zucker)? That would be my guess, so the conversation probably starts with the 2019 1st round pick.

But no. We had to play the Gulutzan way.

I'm pretty sure the Gulutzan way started out by putting Hamilton on the third pairing with Grossman.

Back when GG and the Flames were undefeated together.

Well according to the Athletic, the Wild were working on this deal before the Galchenyuk trade:

Zucker + Niederreieter + Ennis for Domi + Dovorak

If that helps you figure out trade value.

So glad he's bringing such brilliant ideas to Edmonton now and not our bench.

The AZ GM denies that Dvorak came up in those discussions.

What’s he going to say? “Yeah I tried to trade him”

People put too much stock into what GMs say to the media.

Zucker + Niederreiter + Ennis for Bennett and Jankowski?

Gaudreau-Monahan-Tkachuk
Zucker-Lindholm-Niederreiter
Mangipane-Backlund-Frolik
Ennis-Shore-Lazar

Probably hurts the centre depth too much

For sure. Treliving said Fox wasn't available on Friday. A day later he's traded

Not even a Yotes FAN would propose that, for fear of being labeled a homer.

Also, the salaries are as lopsided as the talent, and AZ doesn't usually look to pick up a ton of salary.

There is no way that was on the table.

(I am not shooting the messenger here)

Well, that same day (or was it the next?) was when Treliving spoke to Fox's family advisor for the last time. I would think that up until that time, Flames didn't want to move Fox. He actually may not have been lying - though I do think that Treliving is Darryl Sutter-esque that way in how little information and misdirection he provides the media.

I get a kick of people laughing at that proposed Coyotes trade like that isn’t exactly what the Flames did with Dougie 3 days ago, and the Wild get to dump salary instead of adding a great prospect.

If you consider that we have to sign hanafin and lindholm still, we actually took on more salary lol

For the Wild, they want to dump salary, no? If they are just looking to dump salary, then every player like Zucker, Niederreiter, Coyle, etc., would come attached with Ennis, and the return expected would be lessened. How many teams can absorb that cap and would be willing to absorb it? Wild need to make more room. Flames won't be sending Brouwer or anyone back with a substantial cap hit - might just be players for prospects and/or picks.

Actually, I believe Mastermind Gulutzan started the 2016/17 season attempting to deploy three balanced pairings, with Dougie playing with Nik effing Grossmann:

Giordano-Wideman
Brodie-Engelland
Grossmann-Hamilton

Probably should have fired Gully for that decision alone
