Man, Treliving doesn't want to be late for the Tegan & Sara show tomorrow, does he?

Getting Stone as a #5 is great

Do not like

Even though he'll play in a #5 role for us, the think he would've got 4-4.5m on the free market as a 2nd pairing dman. So I think 3.5 is a pretty solid price.

Remember, there are always injuries...

What I do really like about this though as we can easily slide an Andersson or Kulak into that 6th position now. Sheltered minutes with a legit defensemen on his pairing.

Probably a fair deal, especially with Russell up north making more, but I would have been fine letting him walk at that price and term as well. Think money could be allocated elsewhere but it is what it is.

Though silver lining: it's nowhere near as bad as Russell's deal.

Unreal!! Cheaper and less term than the grease had to give up for Russell.

Treliving is on an absolute ROLL. I can't think of another time when a Flames GM (or any GM, for that matter) has had a week like this.

Michael Stone agrees to terms in CGY, three years with an AAV of $3.5M.
This is exactly what I was hoping for / was thinking would be fair.

And STILL for less than Russell.

For sure. Anderssen/Kulak round out the bottom pairing with Bartkowki sitting in the press box as the #7.

Now we have depth, injuries happen, if people think the top four aren't going to be hurt this year they're dreaming. Now we have a five that can easily step into the top 4 if need be and if not needed can play 18 solid min. a night.

He may be playing #5 for us, but can step into a top 4. I think he wil be awesome at 12 minutes a night.

Holy crap, what a blueline! This is almost too good to be true. Does Treliving think about moving Gio or Brodie for help up front? This is some serious flexibility on the backend, and you have a glut of prospects back there with high potential. Great situation to be in, that is for certain.

Awful. Stone is so overrated.

A one year deal for less than the money here would have been fine. You can't pay depth d-men like this.

I've liked the majority of Tre's moves this week but this isn't good.
