In the standings? It doesn't matter. Either one goes into the "ROW" column, which is used as the first tie-breaker.

With it being an Eastern Conference opponent, letting Detroit get a point doesn't matter either.

No one cares about the Leafs. The Oilers. The Ducks.
Only Snek matters.

Great win but need to be significantly better against actual playoff teams.

I don't feel the Flames played down to the opposition at all in this one. The Wings played a superb road game and Elliott was the reason we won this one. Spoiler teams often play very well down the stretch with no pressure. The team is finding any way it needs to to win. Shoots the lights out against Nashville, a couple of good defensive efforts against LA and Detroit. Top line can handle the offense when the MMM line isn't carrying the load and all the D playing steady, solid minutes. What a couple of great pickups by Tre.

Yeah, baby! I hated the last second goal, but I loved the overtime excitement and Backlund. Wow, I did not know he had that in him.

Flames are rolling. Watch out Oilers.

Sheahan as our 2nd line winger...

Hah... maybe the Wings brass still think they have Shanahan on the team.

not sure if serious?

but isn't that basically the rest of the season?

we lose a game and our competitors make up ground if they win?

we win and they lose, we gain ground?

Lol to the Oilers fan - Vanek is gone as is their chance in a shootout

The best part of the ATL report is the salty tears of our rival teams fans lol

People can say that they should have played better but that's garbage. This team, on the run they are, is primed for a letdown but they found a way to pull it out. Great winn, the type that showed that they have the character to stick it out when things aren't going as great as they'd like. Great great win tonight.

What did Backs register in the hardest shot, 103 mph?

Sure as hell looked like it on that one!

He had the hardest shot on the team in the hardest shot contest earlier this season.

Undefeated in the widemanless era. Hopefully we never have to see him again in a Flames jersey.

Apparently Sportsnet is going to be using Roger's pants instead of a tarp on their Stampede Chuckwagon.

Agree here, great teams win even when they aren't at their best.

Won the fastest skater, too. Both were in fine form on the winner this evening.
