Nice to get the win. Great effort from pretty much everyone. Fourth line continues to play well. Stajan seemed feisty tonight for some reason. Bennett continues to show flashes, but just hasn't put it all together yet. Backlund line what can you say. Every time they are out there they are creating chances. Love Tkachuk's game. He will take some penalties, but you just have to let him go and play his game. Monahan is coming guys. Just a bit more confidence and he will start shooting again. I'm hoping that nice goal in the shootout really gets him going. Hamilton was fantastic on the backend. Thought the other dmen all had off and on games especially Brodie. Really struggled at times I thought especially with the puck.

Anyone else think the ice was awful? Puck seemed to be bouncing a lot. Maybe cause they were just on the road I forgot how bad it was. A few times it killed some plays in the offensive zone. Really wish they would do something about it.

Haven't seen much talk about it on the board so don't know where to bring it up but is anyone worried about the development of Bennett? Seems so inconsistent. I hardly noticed him out there tonight in a game where the flames largely controlled the play late in the game.

Most important thing. Get over .500 and you're pretty much guaranteed to at least be "in it".

One of our best players tonight was Brodie IMO. I think he's figuring out how to be effective paired with Wideman; in turn Wideman is making less mistakes. Not perfect by any stretch but I think were starting to see some of the high calibre play Brodie is capable of.

Time and time again they either lose it at the half-boards or dump it in poorly. Every once in a while it works decently and they get good zone time out of it. Blech.
Agreed. They really need to stop doing it as it's just not working. They seemed to get away from it in the third and they were carrying it in and that seemed to be working better. The PP still frustrates me. It's either useless with no shots on goal or they score.

Sweet jesus I love Tkachuk.

I know he's a huge POS out there and I shouldn't enjoy his antics as much as I do. And yet...

Me too, if Burrows pulled off that headbutt bull#### against us I'd be spitting blood but because it's Tkachuk I'm kinda like, meh.

This team has sorely been missing the Ville Nieminen Factor. Chucky needs to learn to refine his style and stay out of the box, but he's got that element in spades!!

good game. thought the wild got pretty lucky both tying it (thanks wideman) and not losing in ot.

can someone explain to me why hamilton got less icetime than both wideman and engelland? he's our best dman and yet can't play top 4?

defensive icetime/roster decisions are the most frustrating part of gulutzan.

Yep, double checked the ice time sheet... He got more and more ice time as the game went on. He only had about 5 min of ice in the first and only a handful of shifts. No complaints about the d ice time tonight.

I think this was the first game where I really though Hamilton looked like a number one defenceman. He was skating really, really well tonight (like a deer?). I thought he looked like he was making decisions very quick and closing in on the Wild all game. He looked strong too. Just a really good game from him.

Hathaway had another good game too, I thought. As did Ferland as he moved up and down the line up at times.

As much as the bump back can be annoying, the Flames didn't seem to be having as much trouble making zone entries as they used to.

Fun game (outside of the 2nd)!

Anyone else notice that Backlund seems to be playing more chippy the last while? I wondered how it would be with Tkachuk stirring stuff up all the time, but Backlund goes right in there every time to stick up for him. Love it.

Also, Backlund's FO% was low today since he was against Koivu all night, but he won a couple of important ones against Koivu. Backlund is still a guy that is finding ways to improve his game, and doing whatever is needed to help the team win.

Wild fans are pretty scummy with that pro-slashing rubbish.

Jokes on them though cause Johnny boy still nabbed the game winner before they slashed him out of the first game. Then the Flames avenge tonight on the scoreboard - where it matters.
