I think Tkachuk is having a bigger impact in the game than Monahan at the same age.
FYI he had 18mins of ice time today, those are some serious minutes.

If we're the first team out (Preds will 100% pass us), then you know who my money's on to fall out of the top 8...

He benefits from being on Backlund and Frolik line, but he is doing the right things in the coaches eye.

Starting to like what I see in Gulutzan's system. Like he said in the summer, the team is working like a 5 man unit. Hard forechecking is making our team very successful as well. Reminds me of the Pittsburgh Penguins

Aside from the second period (yawn), that was a hugely entertaining game. Lots of chances, good pressure, big saves, and of course the shootout snipes by Versteeg and Monny for the win.

Was the shot by Tkachuk late in the third (on a wide open net) deflected in front? Couldn't quite see on the jumbotron replay.

PS how does Nashville have five games in hand on us? That's like a fifth of the season thus far...

Yup, Koivu got a stick on it. Koivu was very good today, I think he was the most effective Minny player at both ends of the rink.

Five empty netters against us

Zero for.

Ya that will distort things

The Tkachuk shot late was deflected over the net by Koivu.

To be fair, that doesn't include the 6 or 7 games where we give up an empty netter to go down by 2.

That's what I thought afterward.

Just means when we've lost, it's been a blowout. Hence the goal differential.

Suffice it to say the team has finally figured out the system. While they are still lacking in the offense department, adding Gaudreau next week should help a lot.

This is what I was seeing in this team back in preseason, just took a month and a half to get everyone on the same page.

Enjoyed Kevin's game tonight; not flashy, but quite solid defensively, and seems to be able to make smart choices about when he plays up and pinches - and maybe more importantly, when he chooses not to. Developing, and I like it.

Hate the long bump-back pass on the PP; seems to me it just kills all the momentum when the puck-carrier hits the offensive blue line and drops the puck all the way back to the D side of the defensive blue line. It just makes no sense to me, and the way the Flames do it, it makes no sense at all as they can't control it once the new puck-carrier moves it up-ice. Time and time again they either lose it at the half-boards or dump it in poorly. Every once in a while it works decently and they get good zone time out of it. Blech.
