Yep, I think it's more about what else the tax returns would show.
And it doesn't matter if the average people would understand it or not because there are people who could understand it that would also be combing over it.

NEW YORK — Donald Trump launched a deeply personal attack Tuesday morning on Alicia Machado, the 1996 Miss Universe winner who has accused him of calling her "Miss Piggy" and "Miss Housekeeping" because she's Latina.
During an interview on Fox News on Tuesday morning, Trump brought up Machado on his own and launched into an attack on her credibility, saying that she had "attitude" and was a "real problem" for Miss Universe officials.
"She was the worst we ever had. The worst. The absolute worst. She was impossible," Trump said. "... She was the winner, and she gained a massive amount of weight, and it was a real problem. We had a real problem."

I've seen a bevy of mentions about this, but considering Trump says he doesn't pay people unless they do a good job, are we about to see a spike in people not paying when they go to Trump properties? Trump himself says its cool not to pay in that situation after all.

I'm going to be extremely disappointed now if we don't.

A Pennsylvania fair vendor, who turned out to be a registered sex offender, was booted from the event after visitors complained that he was selling Nazi flags.
Visitors to the Bloomsburg Fair, which started Saturday, posted photos of the vendor’s flags on the fair’s Facebook page. The photos showed a red-and-white flag with a black swastika draped from one side of a booth and a flag endorsing Donald Trump and declaring “Make America Great Again” on the other side.

I didn't catch it during the debate but Trump called Obama "your president". Afterwards when someone asked him about it he said he's everyone's president but the in-the-moment remark gives a look into how he thinks.

funny enough I have a couple friends who just booked a trip to Vegas for this December, they used the priceline mystery hotel feature where you book for a cheap price not finding out until after which hotel it is. Turns out they got the Trump hotel and they immediately called trying to cancel but they couldn't. Their plan is to complain while there and refuse to pay due to sub-standard service, à la Trump.

They should offer to pay 30 cents on the dollar, that sounds like Trump's standard rate.

Its the same thing with offshore companies. Public acts like its committing murder, smart people think its smart. Legal tax avoidance is something everyone should be thinking about.
You would probably not learn all that much from the tax returns (honestly, you'll learn a lot more from all the financial disclosures he's already made). Hillary implied in the debate the taxes would show he might not be wealthy (again, not what tax returns are for).
His son actually gave a very candid answer to this. Releasing the tax returns would provide very little new good information, and would just become a distraction because there is a lot in there that can be taken the wrong way and made to look bad (like Hillary already has).
I'm sure he has some skeletons in his closet and tax returns, but that is half of his appeal.

Well, you are certainly taking him at his word. The Politifact fact-checkers would disagree with that assessment.
For me the main issue with the tax returns, concern his use of charitable donations (or lack thereof). Tax returns don't necessarily prove he is wealthy or not, but it would certainly provide more clarity on his income, as distinct from his companies' or his charitable foundation.

You're quite wrong. There's actually quite a lot of information about how much he makes, how much he gives, where he spends his money and most importantly, how much he's exposed financially to unfriendly foreign money

Americans can vote on questions for the town hall debate. CNN and ABC have said they will 'consider' the top 30 questions for inclusion.
