There is a longer video where the semi has passed and they still didn't switch lanes. The BMW didn't use his signal light when he switched lanes and of course the lane splitting by the guy who was part of their group.

Hilarious. I love that phrase.

WhiteTiger, pretty much everyone has been blaming the Infiniti. Why is it impossible for both parties to be in the wrong? The Infiniti is more wrong, absolutely, but that doesn't absolve the BMW's apparent wrongdoing either
I seriously question people's reading comprehension when they see victim blaming in this thread. And that's not an insult that's just sad that people can't see there were two parties in the wrong here without claiming we are victim blaming.

Figured you'd turn to this when you have no argument. Stay out of the thread if you can't make an argument and are so thin skinned you can't admit you were wrong and just are out to make sarcastic posts.

Because it's the new cool thing to do. Hell, the Infiniti driver was a brown guy, how long until race gets brought into this too. Let's cram as many buzzwords as we possibly can into this discussion as possible, it is 2016 after all.

You're really just arguing semantics, when people clearly meant "what the idiot in the Infinity did was super dangerous, and the BMWs were being dicks." Arguing the latter does not justify the former. It just means people are arguing that the Infinity driver managed to out-dick a BMW driver.

I personally won't rest until the BMW drivers have their own bathrooms.

The driver of the Infiniti was just being an idiot and deserves to have his license revoked.

Don't even think the blue BMW had much of a choice there to move over, there was a car directly infront of him in the left lane so even if he was trying to pass the other BMW he didn't really have a choice. Not like he had nothing but open road in front of him.

It's an amusing term, and I rarely get to use it. Figured this was a good situation.

Thing is, despite the amount of aggressive drivers trying to say otherwise in the thread...the BMW's didn't do anything wrong. They didn't do anything that anyone pretty much who drives on a busy road doesn't do. If a police officer was behind either BMW, s/he'd not pull over either. They were doing nothing WRONG. They might (arguably) have been being a little dickish, but that's not illegal yet. Yet, a decent chunk of posters here are jumping all over them saying that if only they hadn't been driving side by side, this wouldn't have happened.

CP is home to some of the most amusing, aggressive keyboard driver's I've ever seen (no, I don't go to car forums), and threads like this just make me laugh.

So while I use victim blaming a bit tongue in cheek...it does actually apply, sadly.

I'm just assuming they did something wrong, at some point, because they drive BMW's and I like to profile people. Frankly, other than likely driving like dinks, I don't think they did anything illegal either. I even gave them credit for banning this Infiniti guy and anyone in the group that knew him.

I actually enjoy driving discussions on CP because there's so many different kinds of people here. Whereas on other sites I go too, most driving discussions are 5 pages of everyone agreeing with each other and hating the same thing

I agree, the blue BMW couldn't move over, but the car in front of her could have. Often times, it seems there are more cars in the left lane, then the right. I wish the RCMP would start to enforce the passing lane only rule, like they do in other jurisdictions. I was in Washington state a few years ago, a state patrol car came up behind me with lights on and sirens blaring. I immediately moved over to the right, wondering what I had done wrong. He ended up pulling over the driver in front of me. I assume because he didn't vacate the passing lane quickly enough.

Most of what info is showing up seems to show that guy was part of the group. If anything, quite a few posters would agree the Infiniti is "stunting", reckless and impatient as you can see in the later video he uses the shoulder to go around a seemingly unrelated pickup truck.

From the article in the first post.

It's not just a passing lane though, Too many people get "Keep right except to pass" confused with "Slower traffic keep right." in this situation, it's the latter. They aren't the same thing

I agree with what you're trying to say overall, but on roads like the QEII, it's perfectly acceptable to cruise in the left lane, as long as you move over if someone comes up behind you and let them go by. Like you said, it really sucks that it isn't enforced.

He wasn't part of the group, but he knew people that were. Both the Infiniti driver and anyone that knew him were immediately banned from the groups events

I guess my overall question/point is, why does it matter? Why even argue the point? Everyone knows the passing lane etiquette, we hear it ad nauseum in almost every GMG thread or anything to do with traffic. It's become the main issue in this thread.

In the voice of Sir David Attenborough...

Here we see a pack of BMW's, driving relentlessly north, as they are known to do in the spring driving season. If you watch carefully, you'll notice they don't use their signal lights, and prefer to cluster together. But wait! Suddenly an Infinity appears on the scene. Unwilling to risk being slowed by the BMW pack, it splits up the middle, bravely, but briefly getting between 2 lovesick BMW's and interrupting their mating ritual. The infinity uses all the space on the road to escape the pack and free itself from their slow pace. Rarely do we see such boldness captured on camera.
